Allen West, a retired Army officer, former congressman and Texas GOP chairman, used Independence Day to launch a Republican primary challenge to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
West released a YouTube video and made an appearance at Sojourn Church in Carrollton, Texas, to announce his 2022 bid, saying he was focused on illegal immigration, the Democrat assault on energy resources and human trafficking.
"I’ve not been in elected political office for about a decade, but I can no longer sit on the sidelines and see what has happened in these United States of America and ... the place that I call home," West said in the video.

Met him and heard him give an impromptu talk at an NRA Convention. Seems like a genuine man.
As for Abbott, I know some folks from Texas in FR will go bananas, but while he does have some Conservative creds he seems more of an opportunist or goes where the wind takes him, to appease the Left.
Austin is an absolute sh*thole.
Why is it that Democrat Governors and Mayors will literally and figuratively give the opposition the finger at every turn and blatantly ignore anything they want, while Republicans do just the opposite.
Exactly, something is wrong here. I no longer trust him.

Should we fire Abbott? Will he end up like the other establishment Rinos? An unwillingness to take out an incumbent created the establishment class. An unwillingness to offend the other party exposes no fight. These are different times. I don’t have the answer but Abbott is no Lisa Murkowski. Kay Baily had no business challenging the incumbent anymore than Liz Cheney did against that Wy. senator.
Allen West has always been one of my favorite Americans so if he thinks there’s a need to run against Abbott, I trust him.

Why run against a successful Republican governor? Is he trying to elect a Democrat? I did not even know he lived in Texas. Loser.

There is only so much a governor can do with regards to the border. The Supreme Court established in Arizona that it is a federal prerogative, not a state.
