Historians call it a "corrupt bargain" but Democrats were happy with it.
They cared more about removing Federal Reconstruction troops from former Confederate states than about winning the 1876 election.
From that time on the South reverted to radical Democrats' control, thus nullifying the new 13th, 14th & 15th Amendments.

"Next, I'll have you agreeing the Grant administration was corrupt."

Sure, but no more or less than any other.
The difference is that the "mainstream" Democrat press went after Grant the same way they've more recently gone after Donald Trump.

Typical Democrat media squawking.

Once in a while you write something that makes a little sense.

You could build credibility by adding the South knew they didn’t have the political and military power to have their way - and the North did - so they negotiated the best deal they could. Yes, they accepted the North’s corrupt offer.
