The news that a Frasier reboot was in the pipeline was somewhat bittersweet for fans when no mention was made of the classic sitcom's supporting cast making a comeback.
But star of the show Kelsey Grammer has now backtracked on this, and revealed he's certain his co-stars will return.
Speaking to Collider, the actor, 66, who plays the titular Dr. Crane, said: 'We think we’re going to get most of the actors back, I’m certainly hopeful that we will, and I’m fairly confident that they’ll come back...
'We have a story to tell — that can actually be told with or without them, honestly — but I want them back because that’s what I always dreamed of.
'I thought we should explore all their lives in their third act, and so that is my hope.'
Many were left upset when David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier's brother Niles, Jane Leeves, who played Niles' eventual wife Daphne, and Peri Gilpin, who played Frasier's producer Roz, were not mentioned in the announcement in February that Paramount+ had revived the iconic comedy. Yet four months later and it appears they have been coaxed back to the fold after all.
Kelsey also teased an air date, adding: 'We don’t actually have a date when we’re going to start filming. We’re still kind of breaking the story a little bit, we’re doing a polish now.
'When will we see a Frasier? Probably in the first quarter of next year...'

The actors might still be great. But not guarantee that the writing will be any good. It's 20 years later. A lot has happened since then. The writers are "woke". If thats the case, Kelsey Grammar needs to fire them or the show will suck. Look at SNL. Late night shows. Woke = no humor.
I barely watched it, but it was well-done. John Mahoney (RIP) was great.
. They need to retrieve their script writers as well as actors. Possibly the best and most articulate scripts ever.
“let’s hope they don’t eff it up with crazy modernity.”
I am pretty sure that a trans character and a gay character are now required on any new tv shows.
We tape the reruns that air late at night on the Hallmark Channel. Being the Hallmark Channel, they bleep out “offensive” language used on the show, like the word “ass.”
The combination of visual and verbal wit provided by the writers, directors, and actors makes Frasier a joy to watch. The Ski Lodge episode is one of the funniest half hours ever committed to videotape.

Totally agree! I hope the writers are still alive. We’ll miss John Mahoney, though, whose character was wonderful.
He is but the show often gave liberal views the bump. As in that’s the good side.
I’d agree except same actors is better. And this continues, not “re-boot”.
Perhaps we’d have a chance to see Frazier get Roz. Was always disappointed in that.
Oui!
I hated that porker kid.
A poorly-kept secret is that Frasier and Niles played their characters as if they were gay. Of course, Niles’ portrayer actually is.
David Hyde-Pierce, John Mahoney, and the guy who played Bulldog all were gay.
One of the creepiest shows was when Martin took Niles and Frasier ice fishing. In the fishing shack were “beefcake” posters on the walls. Hubby and I had seen the re-runs for years and loved them. Last month we both noticed for the first time the posters on the walls.
Now that you have Mahoney's gap filled as best you can, a foil to deflate Frazer at least, then you can do the 3rd Act like Kelsey wants to do, probably with Niles & Daphne's kids running amok, and Roz's kid too.
There are lots of good Fraizer clips on Youtube.
There were at least 3, perhaps more (the 3rd being the gourmet radio talk show host character, Gil Chesterton, played by Edward Hibbert). Mahoney, I was never quite able to definitively confirm, it seemed like his private life was sealed. Some claim he was, others not. Curiously, I thought Peri Gilpin was a lesbian.
Well, Bulldog and Niles and Gil (the restaurant critic) are homos IRL.
Frasier also had a one-off episode "Good Samaritan" that centered around a trans prostitute, who is then corn-ily discovered not to be a pro but a resident of his same building. Also, Frasier's boss Mercedes Ruehl is all woman, but one would swear the producers told her to play the role as a trans.
I would think Jane Leeves in her prime would have made a gay man straight. You should have seen her when she was on The Benny Hill Show.
He did! Season 9, Ep. 23: The Guilt Trippers.
It didn't sell, and the show was rigor mortis by then.
