CHICAGO - Tensions became heated Friday evening when Newsmax reporter William Kelly asked Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot about violent crime in the city.
According to data, more than 300 people have been shot and killed in Chicago this year. More than 1,500 have been shot and wounded.
When Kelly pressed Lightfoot on the apparent surge in violent crime, the mayor said he had his facts wrong.

On Monday, Mayor Lightfoot – who promised to reduce Chicago’s bloody street violence – said this month has been less violent than last year in June.
"We are seeing a downward trajectory, where other cities are continuing to see a climb," Lightfoot said.
2021 is so far Chicago’s deadliest year in more than a decade.

Isn’t there a Greg Kelly also in Newsmax with his own show?
Which gang is winning the body count contest this year?
She never had control of the city
If that’s the case, it would be her silhouette.
Mumbo Jumbo.
“But in the greater scheme of things, Chicago is not a war zone. 2.5 million plus is it’s population.”
The reporter did not refer to Chicago as a war zone.
It is probably true that some neighborhoods are quite safe. Perhaps the mayor’s home has never had a bullet pass through the nursery.
Other neighborhoods are dangerous.
When 50 to 100 people in Chicago are shot down in the streets weekly, it just doesn’t seem safe to me.
But precautions can be taken to avoid getting shot in Chicago. Don’t go on the streets at night; don’t go on the streets in the daytime.
“But in the greater scheme of things, Chicago is not a war zone. 2.5 million plus is it’s population.”
Extrapolate those numbers down to your town. My suburb in DFW has a population of about 75,000. Based on last year’s final numbers from HeyJackass.com it would mean 24 murdered and 104 shot and wounded in a year. Or put another way you have a 1 in 3500 chance of being murdered and 1 in 750 chance of being shot, per year. If that was true in my town I would be moving.
I grew up in Chicago.
Lightfoot is, hands down, the worst mayor ever.
Communists don’t like the press axing them real questions.
I'm impressed by this statistic: a person has a better than 88 percent chance of not getting shot in a game of Russian Roulette (when played with a 9-shot revolver).
In a town where the death rate is one per capita, those odds are not all that bad.
It appears violent crime is becoming prevalent in the downtown area that tourists enjoy. I have spent many nights on Michigan Ave and felt very safe. The criminals didn’t dare go there. Now is a different story.
Chicago “was” a great American city.
She never had control over it.
Did he go in blackface?
Inquiring minds want to know.../s
After all, he was supposed to be barred from asking questions as one of ‘that’ race.
The danger is spreading into the “safe” neighborhoods as well now. Second City Cop was good for that sort of information, before the owner chose to close down the site ahead of being doxxed.
The “Chicago Scanner” page on Twitter is good for a running feed of the craziness on the streets these days.
Based upon what I’ve been told by someone who lives/works in the city, I think you owe FReepers a video walking tour of several areas of Chicago at night before you go denigrating reporters for calling out official BS.
The only things on a downward trajectory here are the hundreds of black bodies hitting the ground every single month in Chicago.
And you know what bothers me the most?
I know longer GAF.
May God forgive me, but I just don’t GAF anymore.

#17, I heard a news report that the second victim of the car shooting has died.
Stay tuned to MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS to hear about this. And bring a month’s supply of food while you wait next to your radio/tv.
She’s black and she’s gay, so she can’t be incompetent. Can she stretch her lower lip down to her chin?
Y-you mean, Bruce Wayne lives in Chicago? But he’s a white supremacist.
