What happens when a population of introverts, hypochondriacs, and obsessive-compulsives is continuously bombarded with messages to seclude and disinfect themselves, for fear that COVID-19 prickle-balls lurk everywhere, waiting to attack?
What happens is that emotionally damaged people start driving bad politics and bad policy.
"Fifteen days to flatten the curve." That phrase is surely now banned by corporate media, for it reminds us how the supposedly acute health threat of March 2020 was repeatedly re-packaged to keep populations off-balance and out of business not for 15 days, but for 15 months.
Never in modern times has a health issue been so flagrantly politicized, nor wielded as a club, as the Wuhan virus has been. Outside a few rational locales, almost every nation drank the COVID Kool-Aid, competing to see who could enforce the stupidest rules.
Naturally, academia would lead the way:

Young people who want to serve their country are also targets: the passive-aggressive command at West Point compels the unvaccinated to sacrifice a week's vacation to quarantine and then to wear masks in the most ridiculous circumstances imaginable — to harass them and make them look like fools. Military leaders do not care whether the experimental vaccines might do more harm than good,

True Story?: I went to a Dollar Store in Novato, Ca. yesterday.
Almost nobody was wearing a Mask, including me! It was nice, it was liberating. It was like Kung Fu Fighting; just a little bit frightening.
Any moment i expected some Krazy-Karen to enter the store “outraged” and Shocked, Shocked, that there was unmasked shopping going on in here!! Nobody complained. Nobody pointed and stared. As I said, twas nice.

Do you supposed everyone present assumed everyone had been vaccinated?

Yes. It’s ludicrous. There are good tests to know if one had it unknowingly and if course many were diagnosed. None of the people who had it should need to be vaccinated.

Folks haven’t been wearing masks in Montana for a few months now, thanks to the, new gov., which is good.
Otoh, folks are m0ving to Montana in droves. Median home prices in some cities have increased 40% over the past year, which is bad.

The only ones that get weird looks are someone walking or driving by themselves with a mask on.
I’m having surgery on Tuesday. During lab tests, the phone call with the anesthesiologist, and even at my mandated Covid test last week, no health care professionals ask if I’ve been vaccinated.
And yet, draconian measures are being put in place everywhere to force vaccinations. What’s up with that? Do the health care professionals know something we don’t?
