What is left to say at this point when it comes to that “Hermit Kingdom” everyone loves to hate? North Korea, or also known as the so-called Democratic People’s Republic, is the ultimate Pandora’s Box and every president’s worst nightmare: A-bombs, chemical toxins, biological weapons, and missiles to lob them all over the world—including now at the continental United States. And Pyongyang knows how to get the news cycle to turn its way—thanks to making Northeast Asia shake with nuclear weapons tests.
The Norks are crazy. Chicoms want Taiwan. Are we prepared for SHTF time?
Not with the sock puppet at the helm.
If the Chicoms invade the north does that mean Taiwan goes into DEFCON 1?
Do we invest in more of those missle take-down systems that cannot take out everything? Do we get the hell out and let the Asians deal with it amongst themselves?
Is there a ‘measured’ response to where we or the Sorks drop food all over the starving areas of the country to calm it down?(I’d label the food with American/Sork flags)
If the Chicoms invade the north, all bets are off... and all the more so with a certifiable lunatic in the WH and a certifiable lunatic at the helm in N Korea
The sock puppet will say the Chinese are just trying to stabilize things. They’re good people.
I don;t know why the Chinks would invade the Norks. The only reason would be to steal their weapons because there’s really nothing else there.
If we are smart (doubtful), we will stay out of Asia militarily, period.
Our preparation. Non-Existent. I am reminded of Grenada. Our invading soldiers had to rely on tourist maps to get around. One of our field commanders used his long-distance credit card to call the pentagon because he couldn’t communicate with his off-shore support ship. The picture of the medical student kissing the ground covered it up.
Then there’s Beruit 1983. No barricades to prevent the suicide attack on the hotel. No consultation with Israel who were more experienced in those areas of conflict.
What needs to happen is a meeting of defense ministers in the region. Nations included should include India, P.I., SK, Japan, Australia. Even Viet Nam. If things get really heated everyone heeds to be on the same page. We were unprepared for the failures in Beirut and Grenada(under Reagan) but those were small potatoes that could be covered up. This is big stuff.
China is very concerned about a mass immigration across the border. They already have significant forces in place to stop that. Another thing they are afraid of is the collapse of the mountain under which the NK’s have been testing their nukes. Prevailing winds will send a huge radioactive cloud over China, probably with lots of deaths.
If China invades NK it will be to stop the South from doing the same. China wants a buffer state. Also, they’d like to control the weapons, which could be used by the wide array of China’s enemies. Invade is the wrong word. “Occupy” to prevent a collapse.
Nobody wants the chaos that would ensue if NK outright collapsed.
Are we prepared? We’re there but I think not.
China repossessing Taiwan is no business of ours.
There is zero possibility of US military involvement in a defense of Taiwan - and there hasn’t been for 40 years or more.
Not to worry. China Joe will protect us. According to his attendants, the Chinese love him and will do whatever he demands. See how simple life can be if you just believe?
You have heard the expression, ‘The inscrutable oriental’ ?
Or-maybe the Chinese just want to flex their muscles and get everyone shak’n in their shoes (including Joe)
Taiwan is an interest which should be defended by the USA. China should be stopped from its attempt to take over Taiwan. The defense of Taiwan and its freedom there of is no vice. Long live the free nation of Taiwan. Those who are against freedom are evil and should be corrected.
It won’t collapse because the military won’t let it. Who do you think is behind Little Rocketman? Hint: it ain’t Russians this time.
Naa. Taiwan has had 75 years to prepare for China invasion. If they haven’t considered it, then they are dumber than a box of bricks. Taiwan knows China wont use nukes. Nothing to gain if everything is leveled. China also knows what an island state can do to them, ask Japan.
If China felt they had an upper hand, they would have moved on them by now. China may beat them by overwelming force due to endless Chinese troops, but not before Taiwan teaches them a lesson they well not recover anytime soon from.
The Chinese want NK there to act as a buffer state. They do not want a frontier with SK. The Chinese also have a border problem with NK in that they have to patrol it to catch fleeing NKs trying to get away from the hell that is NK. If they occupy NK they get a huge economic basket case to deal with and the Chinese have their own economic problems. As well, there is some ethnic animosity between Koreans and Chinese that is not too well hidden. So there are lots of reasons to not invade and to keep the buffer state.
“Taiwan is an interest which should be defended by the USA”
But the USA has agreed since 1983 or earlier that Taiwan is part of China. You do not seriously expect American families to make the sacrifices involved in a war with China when the principle China is fighting for was conceded by us half a century ago, do you?
Call me nuts, I wouldn’t be surprised if Taiwan had an Israeli-style ‘Samson Option’ if it looked like the island was going to fall. No idea what it would be, but I’d be willing to bet it involves breaching Three Gorges Dam.
You trash-talking the Senile Puppetdent of the United States?
