The NCAA announced early Saturday morning the 1 p.m. College World Series game between Vanderbilt and NC State would be ruled a no-contest due to COVID-19 protocols.
"The NCAA and the committee regret that NC State's student-athletes and coaching staff will not be able to continue in the championship in which they earned the right to participate," the NCAA said in a statement.

So some guys tested positive for an infection that, for them, has no symptoms, for which they could easily be vaccinated if they wanted, and that does not spread outside. Well, they certainly can’t be allowed to play baseball under those conditions.
From the coach: ““My job is to teach them baseball, make sure they get an education and keep them on the right track forward,” Avent said. “But I don’t try to indoctrinate my kids with my values or my opinions. Obviously, we talk about a lot of things, but these are young men that can make their own decisions. And that’s what they did.””
Sadly not nearly enough college “leaders” have that kind of testicular strength to stand up to the bullies. Which all of this pounding on doors and punishing is all about. The ncaa can phu cough!
Tested positive.
SNORT.
Which lab did the test? What was the cycle threshold in use? Was the specimen from the nose or using saliva?
That team ought to haul the NCAA into court.
Discovery would be delicious.
And BTW, anyone else wondering if this also might tie in to legalized sports betting and/or organized crime?
This is fishy I’m surprised more didn’t test positive.
Which lab did the test?
Probably Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
The Pack was robbed, as usual....Vandy didn’t want to face them again.
I am an NC State grad and a trial lawyer, and would be delighted to represent them for free if they wanted to sue. They won’t, though.
If the school doesn’t sure, it’s either been threatened and/or bought off.
Betcha.
If the team won’t do it, the players should.
Unless someone has made it worth their while to dummy up.
And the NCAA continues to be Deep State’s creature, conducting Deep State’s war on college athlete refuseniks for it...
They had 13 yesterday. I think 4 of them were pitchers. I saw somewhere 4 more tested positive yesterday? They’ve had sickness running through team since Monday apparently..
“Avent told reporters Monday an illness was running through the team, but made no mention of it possibly being COVID-19. He said associate head coach Chris Hart had been sick for five or six days and that Jarrett and pitcher Cameron Cotter weren’t feeling well.”
Assuming that there is no social contact outside of the actual game (easy to control), what is the risk of one team giving it to another team? I have to think it’s practically zero given the outdoor nature of baseball and the fact that it’’s a limited contact sport. There is no need to ban these players.
BAsically the NCAA is virtue signalling. These kids have virtually zero chance of any adverse symptoms. The NCAA sucks. Taking away this experience from these athletes is just about as low as the NCAA has ever gone.
Covid, schmovid. Sack up and play.
Do they actually have Covid or did they just test positive for Covid? If I tested a million Martians who had never been to earth I would get 10,000 positives, at least.
What a joke.
