The death has sparked a review of building security.

The man managed to climb an “outer architectural structure” on the front of the Hollenbeck station shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, then was able to access a small walkway leading to the tower, said Officer William Cooper, an LAPD spokesman.

A witness then saw the man fall from the tower to the pavement below, Cooper said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as Jonathan Joseph Martinez of Los Angeles.

Sad incident, whether an accident or not, this guy wasn’t in his right mind to do that.
Such being said, one would think an LAPD broadcast tower would be bristling with cameras and/or sensors.
Keeping a high State of Readiness.
Apparently not.

John Hettish is one badass dude. He's still climbing in his 70s.

Some guy climbs a building when he shouldn’t and everyone else should have to protect others from doing the same.

He shouldn’t have climbed the building.

Hollenbeck. A locale often referenced in “Dragnet” reruns.

RIP to the climber.

Back when Hollenbeck Park was a nice place. It became a place where people are often found dead, with lots of gangs, kinky lunatics etc..

Well, could have been a last adventure before a planned suicide. You know, like Jeffrey Epstein or John McAfee.

Man falls to death...

It's not the fall that killed him. It was the sudden stop.

Sparked? Surely an unintended pun for those not familiar with transmission towers.

Nah, the drop was fine. I imagine the sudden stop wasn’t all that pleasant though.
