Walking Tour of Downtown Seattle in May 2021

Take a walk through downtown Seattle in May 2021. Starting in the International District (Chinatown), I walk north on 2nd Avenue through the heart of downtown Seattle including Pioneer Square, Westlake Park, Nordstrom headquarters, and the Amazon headquarters, ending at Denny Park. This is what Seattle and its homeless crisis look like after over a year of COVID.

I have been a resident of Seattle for over 15 years and have witnessed the city go through many changes, but this is the most dramatic change I have seen

Basically this a video of a french or german resident of Seattle, taking a stroll downtown on a typical cold and rainy spring day in Seattle, some two months ago.

He goes on and on about how Seattle has been cleaned up and all the new living spaces that have been built during the pandemic. The question is if all the people, who moved to Idaho or other red areas will come back to the apartments Bezos built.

The place looks like a ghost town with empty buses burning tax dollars.

That is an astonishing video. I expected Seattle to look like Portland - thoroughly trashed and ruined. It is very clean and pretty now. How in the world did the police move the thousands of bums out? There was no public outcry I heard and no screaming from the communists on the city council. Did they send all the bums to other cities?

How did they do such a good job cleaning up the graffiti and keep it from re-appearing? San Francisco is covered in graffiti everywhere you go.

I don’t give one squat about seattle! It is a leftist hell-hole. Move, or don’t bitch about it. BUT! Don’t move to places where we have our stuff worked out pretty well. Choose somewhere where there’s NOT a lot of people. Go there and screw it up just like where you were.

Thank you for the synopsis. I appreciate it. I'm more likely to watch if I know what it's about.

Amazing amount of new construction. Will businesses and people come back anytime soon? How did they get rid of the homeless? Without a solution will they come back? Some streets are still off limits I see.

I agree, you wouldn't believe the California ass license plates I see in the DFW area. I hope and pray they are trying to escape Gavin Newsome

It’s probably been 5 years since I last set foot in Seattle. I used to have to travel there for business purposes. It got to the point where I carried both a sidearm and a coach weapon - and lots of spare mags. If my employer only knew, Lol.

Why do I think of Russia after watching this? Hope the leftist friends we have (had) enjoy. I grew up south of Seattle, and worked there...looks GONE to me.

Blame the pandemic for a lot of that. I watched a 4k walking tour of Barcelona in the summertime and it was one of the most depressing things I have ever watched. Places that were normally bustling with tourists were deserted, stores were closed, for rent signs everywhere. So sad.

So glad we sold my uncle’s Capitol Hill condo just in time. It was about 6 blocks from the “CHOP Zone.” It needed a complete tear-down renovation, so we sold it cheap. The guy kept it for about four months, and then we saw it on Zillow being offered for the same price he had paid. Guess he changed his mind! It had a spectacular view of the sound and the Space Needle, but you couldn’t pay me to walk down Broadway now.

The next time a black thug is shot by the police, it will be trashed.

I worked in the area covered in the first few minutes of the video until I retired about nine years ago. Even then, it was a hangout for bums, but it obviously got a lot worse in recent years.

It's amazing to see all those boarded-up businesses - the white-supremacists wreaked havoc here last year. /s

A lot of the downtown area has been cleaned up, but many parks are sill filled with the homeless, and the freeway corridor is lined with tents. Some of the squalor has spread to the suburbs.
