The highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus is the greatest threat to the United States’ attempt to eradicate COVID-19, White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said Tuesday.
During a White House coronavirus briefing, the head of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) said the variant now makes up more than 20 percent of all new cases in the U.S., a significant increase from nearly 10 percent two weeks ago.
The delta variant, first identified in India, recently became the dominant strain in the United Kingdom, surpassing the alpha variant first discovered in the U.K. in fall. The strain makes up more than 90 percent of new cases and delayed the U.K.'s scheduled reopening.
“Similar to the situation in the U.K., the delta variant is currently the greatest threat to the U.S. to our attempt to eliminate COVID-19,” Fauci said Tuesday.
“The transmissibility is unquestionably greater than the wild type SARS-CoV-2 as well as the alpha variant. It is associated with an increased disease severity as reflected by hospitalization risk,” he said.

India stopped it so quickly with Ivermectin that they stopped calling it the “India Variant” and renamed it. Can’t have any success stories getting out, when Big Pharma has a panic-demic to keep going. :)

Also you can disregard the fearporn about Delta. All we know is that it’s more transmissible. It hit India hard but has quickly subsided there.
I have tried to determine exactly:
1. WHY is it more contagious?
2. HOW is it more contagious?

Syncytia is formed by fusion of an infected cells with neighboring cells leading to the formation of multi-nucleate enlarged cells. This event is induced by surface expression of viral fusion protein that are fusogenic directly at the host cell membrane.
Syncytia can only happen with viruses able to directly fuse at the cellular surface without the need of endocytosis.

I’m not fear mongering, but there have been a few different studies that have shown worse outcomes from those who had the vaccine vs those who did not regarding the new strain.
Not sounding any alarms yet, but if this pattern continues among larger and more distributed cohorts, will not be pretty.
Get your brain in high gear. 200 million is THREE TIMES president Trump’s votes in 2016 or 2020. You can pooh pooh that number all you want, but it clearly and succinctly validates popularity of the vaccines.
I really prefer you do NOT get the shots. Because there are billions of people worldwide who want the shots but can’[t afford them. If you forego your shots, may be those could be donated to poor countries.
