When I was in in the 80s, there was a fleet-wide broadcast every 12 hours specifying the precise location of every Soviet vessel in the Pacific. To include submarines.

It was Immediate priority, had to be delivered to the skipper and whoever was manning CIC.

I’m pretty sure the USN has this figured out.
