Ivermectin for Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19Infection: A Systematic Review, Meta-analysis, and TrialSequential Analysis to Inform Clinical Guidelines
American journal of Therapeutics ^ | June 17, 2021 | Multiple

Abstract

Background:

Repurposed medicines may have a role against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The antiparasitic ivermectin, with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, has now been tested in numerous clinical trials.

Areas of uncertainty:

We assessed the efficacy of ivermectin treatment in reducing mortality, in secondary outcomes, and in chemoprophylaxis, among people with, or at high risk of, COVID-19 infection.

Data sources:

We searched bibliographic databases up to April 25, 2021. Two review authors sifted for studies, extracted data, and assessed risk of bias. Meta-analyses were conducted and certainty of the evidence was assessed using the GRADE approach and additionally in trial sequential analyses for mortality. Twenty-four randomized controlled trials involving 3406 participants met review inclusion.

There is a 27 page document that I suggest you download.

The "Download" block for the .pdf is to the left of the Title at the source article.

Peer reviewed study analysis has now been released.

This should surprise nobody that has been watching this for the past 3-4 months.

It is too bad that the scientists did not “follow the science” a long time ago in this pandemic. Instead they were political.

I also suggest you look at the list of writers involved and the information listed as:

I am puzzled why this is listed as General Chat.

I looked back that was not how I entered it.

Very strange.

Exactly. Even the journal of medicine, I think the. Ew England one, can’t remember now, opposed hcq, c,aiming it was dangerous, then Trump was cheated out of office, and what do you know? They come out and retract their statement and claim it is no longer too dangerous to use.

Many liberals are true Jack asses

What if a safe drug that has been in use for 40 years was found effective as a treatment and preventative for Covid?

What if the only way an experimental vaccine could be given emergency authorization was if there were no known alternative treatments?

What if Big Pharma and NIH are a giant revolving door of personnel?

What if Big Pharma gives billions in advertising dollars to the media and Big tech?

Very good questions. And someone noticed that this is worth reading. The category of the listing has changed.

Of course they can. It was prescribed for my 95 year old father in December, after he tested positive on the amplified version of the Covid Test.

The local pharmacy filled it immediately and he took 1 tab 3 times per day for 3 days. With heavier D-3 and zinc. He was already on an antibiotic.

Between the 3rd and 4th day he was symptom free.

He did die in March but he did not die with Covid19. He had many health problems, he had Pick’s disease for several years, he died of heart failure.

I re-read your reply. I missed the preventative factor.

It has been used for that here. Some neighbors were using the ag version. Not recommending that.

“Trust the science” Fauci said for over a year that there is no safe and effective cv19 treatment. The vax pushing m****r accessories here claim that it doesn’t work, by a simple hand wave. The science says that it works. MATH+ also works. So does the Brownstein protocol.

There is no pandemic. Just a Pharma-Gates-Fauci operation to promote the experimental gene therapy.

At this point, it scares the crap out of me to think about it.

My wife and I (we’ve been married a year, first wife of 47 years died in 2018) from the beginning said we would not take the injections.

Would not pass smell test.

When I learned more about how it was made I boosted the revulsion level up 4 octaves.

Last week I was informed that my daughter (Lives on East Coast) had taken both injections and my grandson took his first about 2 weeks ago.

It makes me physically ill just to think about it. They are the end of my line. I hope I am badly wrong about this, but don’t think I am.

This should surprise nobody that has been watching this for the past 3-4 months.

It doesn't surprise me, it is a conglomeration of 3rd world studies. Well that's not completely true there was one study from Spain with 24 patient's under study (why even include that?).

This article is not proof that Ivermectin works. It is suggestive that Ivermectin should be studied in a larger clinical trial by a first world medical system. For that reason this study is important as it brings together data to show ivermectin needs to be studied further.

The papers studied in this meta analysis have varied dosing on ivermectin. So we still have no proof of what an optimal dose of ivermectin is (keyword is proof, I know various doctors have suggested a dosing range, so we need statistical proof).

As drugs go Ivermectin is relatively harmless. If you get COVID-19 and want to take I have no problem with you using the medication in conjunction with your doctor. At best it might have an effect. At worst you may have some mild side effect from the drug and get sick from COVID-19 anyway.

If you are trying to convince me that Ivermectin is a statistically proven treatment for COVID-19, I'm afraid the drug will have to jump through a few more hoops.

Very few doctors will prescribe ivermectin for off-label use. You can apparently use the version of ivermectin made for horses, and it is commonly available.

“Are you a doctor? Did you read the .pdf analysis?”

I was asking myself the same thing. It sure sounds like he is trying to give you medical advice.

Funny how all the FRoctors here get their panties in a wad if us lay people simply highlight the effective cv19 treatment regimens out there.

Also, they redirect the discussion to dismissing treatment as “cures”, when most of us never use the word “cure”. That said, the FLCCC protocol is about as close to a cure as one could ask for. 98-100% effective.

From the link:

Conclusions:

Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally.
