A mom was charged for posing as her middle school daughter in class. She says she ‘proved’ security flaws.

Last week, Casey Garcia walked straight into an El Paso middle school. She later greeted the principal and faculty, ate lunch in the cafeteria without a mask and made it almost all the way to the last class period.

Only then, Garcia said in a video, did a teacher notice she was not actually a student — she was the 30-year-old mother of one of the seventh-graders.

Garcia was arrested on Friday after social media posts she made about the incident went viral. She was charged with criminal trespass and tampering with government records, jail records show.

But the Texas mother insisted she wasn’t seeking to break the law or gain online notoriety — instead, she said, her “social experiment” was meant to show the lack of safety protocols at schools and to illustrate how vulnerable students are to threats, especially mass shootings.

“We need better security at our schools,” Garcia said in a video. “This is what I tried to prove. I don’t mean to be curt, but I kind of feel like I proved it.”

She added: “There have been way too many mass shootings. The first one should have never happened. We need metal detectors. I don’t think backpacks are a good idea.”

San Elizario Independent School District Superintendent Jeannie Meza-Chavez told The Washington Post the district would review its security measures after Garcia’s arrest.

“While there was a breach in security by an individual associated as a parent with the school … we want to assure you that our security measures are being reviewed and evaluated,” Meza-Chavez said in an email.

Since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, more than 248,000 children at 260 schools have experienced gun violence, according to data compiled by The Post.

Except school shooters aren’t strangers off the street but known students.

Patrick Purdy wasn’t a student.

She embarrassed the heck out of them and they retaliated by having her arrested for committing no crime.

If the school administrators had any honor or concern for the kids, they would be thanking, not prosecuting the parent. This lady should run for the school board and be a royal pain in the Biden to the school adminstration.

Patrick Purdy shot my son (wounded). the teacher that slammed the classroom door shut right before he reached it for safety, was awarded and praised for saving the few students that got inside before she reacted. The little girl with my son was hit in the head and died right there. I complained weeks earlier about not having teachers or personel on the playground before class started, and the fact that the classroom doors are locked while the teachers are inside. Their response was the usual union bullshit.....its the teachers “personal time”.

I don't believe this.

Schools overall are extremely under protected/reinforced.

On a side note, this is why 1/6 is a farce because the protection on Fedgov buildings due to 9/11 was to withstand terror attacks. There is a reason that schools are not protected and why the Capitol one day was left very vulnerable.

Here are the key words.

“according to data compiled by The Post.”

In other words.. Bull Sh**

The WP is the worst commie publication of them all. And they surely want all schools to be prisons.

“associated as a parent” with the school?? What kind of assholery thinking/speech is this, English -2.0?

Didn’t know that schools had “family”. My daughter used to sit in on some of my granddaughter’s classes and the teachers like that kind of concern and involvement (beyond the PTA).

It also gave the parents an inside view on how the school and classes were being run (in those days, they were pretty good).

On one visit (I used to pick my granddaughter up when my daughter couldn’t), I noticed a major hole in the playground’s wire fence (a 6 footer) that was right next to a jogging trail (providing an easy escape root for a child kidnapper/rapist).

My daughter reported it to the principal and it was fixed in less than 24 hours. There were too many attacks on female joggers at a nearby exercise trail to risk anything.

Back then, common sense was the “norm”, not useless “diversity” lectures and no police resource officers on site.

This mother should be “thanked” for her efforts to improve school safety. It seems the school District Superintendent should be publicly thanking her for exposing a potential “breach of security”.

I suspect and hope that Gov. Abbott will have something to say about this, with a club in his hand.

I think that charges against her will be dropped...School district wants this story to disappear as soon as possible...

I am not impressed with the security of that middle school...

This woman is guilty of trespassing however...During school hours, a person cannot be on campus without permission from the school office...That is true in CA...I am sure that is true in Texas as well...I would not recommend anyone else to try what this mother did...Imagine being at a job interview...It is not fun to explain to a potential employer about the trespassing arrest...

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Yep!
Which is the only reason Drones are controlled by the FAA and RC planes are not.
They don’t want Americans seeing what they are doing.

I think they’re counting every kid in every school, even if they were in the opposite end of the school and never saw or heard a thing. Might even be counting every kid in the entire school district because “the whole community was affected”.
