So was dad's last Shepherd, Zarek. Toddlers in the family and a Fourth of July weekend at the cabin, dad wasn't about to risk the toddlers getting innocently bit by Zarek if they were to have patted him on his hind quarters..............
So I was given the task of taking him to the vet to be put down......Worst F'n day of my life that I still can't get out of my mind........

Both of our beagles made it to 13. Lost the first in 2009 and the second one this past week.
I’ve had many German Shepherds over the years. 13-14 is about average for mine.
I looked it up and it said German Shepherd/Life expectancy
9 – 13 years
Had one of mine go to 15 before his hips gave out.

Damn. I made a big bet on Biden going before Champ.
Agreed. One died in my wife’s arms (16years). One we had to have put down shortly after because his buddy was gone and he was ready(17 years) and then the kitty we had to put down (18 years). All in nice boxes in the living room so they can still be around us. Told my wife NO MORE. Can’t take the pain anymore. Well a few years ago she brought home (around 1 year old) pup that was apparently dropped off or left and was chasing trucks in the middle of the road. Won’t go into the whole story but life got turned upside down and that dog has saved my wife’s life. GOD IS GOOD. EVERY DAY…

Thank you. I put the Bloodhound and my 14 year old Jack Russell down the same year. My Jack Russell had an autoimmune disease of the nervous system. It’s tough watching them get old but the Curs are doing fine and I have two young Mountain Feist house dogs that I hope to have for a long time. I love my pups! The two Curs were rescues. I rescued them off the side of a state highway when they were 6 weeks old. Lol
Bet he would rather have that than the jabs stolen subjected him to in the shower.

That is how long some of our Shepherds lived. Wonderful dogs. My brother and I would fall asleep, ours heads on one when we were little.

Thanks. Knowing that a nice local guy died of a broken heart moments after his dog passed, and knowing that the venal usurper will go on ruining the Republic is working my nerves.
Some do not deserve the dogs they get.

My gsd died a month ago, he was 13.
