Mexico fans will be barred from attending their country's first two home 2022 World Cup qualifiers after making homophobic chants during two Olympic qualifying games in March, FIFA said in a statement on Friday.
Mexico's games against Jamaica on Sept. 2 and Canada on Oct. 7 in the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying will be played in empty stadiums as a result of the sanctions.
De Luisa said there is a risk to Mexico's involvement in the 2026 World Cup - which they are set to co-host with the United States and Canada - if fan behavior does not improve.

For sake of argument, let’s say some fans were acting like idiots, and shouting obscene words.
So that means, NO fans are allowed to attend, because some fans get out of hand??
And what about the financial considerations? Empty stadiums mean no tickets sold, no revenue coming in. Are the powers that be who run soccer really ok with that?
So they lose money as the fans won’t be paying money for tickets to see these games and the concessions stands and the local businesses lose money...yeah great plan...ban all fans because a few don’t have the correct attitudes...FIFA just go bank-rupt! I’ll bet many fans in Mexico won’t watch the games so that the carrying stations lose ratings...advertisers will lose big. Geez FIFA controllers are sure all genius wunderkinds/sarcasm!

Ah. soccer.... WGAF. I have been trying to watch some of the Euro games. Today in three games there were a total of three goals scored. It’s akin to watching paint dry. If Mexican fans want to chant ‘maricon’ they are probably doing so out of shear boredom. And more power to them.
OTOH, one highlight yesterday was that there were some really pretty female Croatia fans....
