I got a manicure from a robot in San Francisco. Is this the future?

As I slide my finger into the hand grip, a rubber ring clamps down on my knuckle to hold it into place. It’s a gentle reminder that I should be moving as little as possible...
as I watch the tiny brush head trace an almost-perfect outline of my nail before continuing to fill it in with color in a mesmerizing loop, I reluctantly admit to myself that this is, almost certainly, the future.
For starters, a robot painting your nails is fast and cheap. The shellacking of a deep maroon cost me $8 and was done within 10 minutes. Plus, you don’t need cash to tip a robot.

The mass media should fire all their reporters and replace them with robots.
You don’t need real people to push boiler-plate leftist propaganda!

I will get a professional manicure right after I do the man-bun to my hair and buy my first cup of Starbucks coffee

Korean manicure ladies used to make fun of Frank Costanza. I wonder if the robots will also make fun of Mr. Costanza.

But the robot will not listen as you pour out your tale of woe or happiness.

It looks like RBG. But that’s Nancy Pelosi in post #6, on her way to a hair salon while everyone else had to stay home because of pandemic restrictions.

Do women expect chit chat along with their manicure?
If they do, they may miss the small talk.
If they don’t really, this may be the machine for them.
Some men like to chat with their Barber.
I don’t. I just want to get cut and get out.
I’m not telling some stranger with bluetooth earphones on, my whole life story.

Nope, no, and HELL NO!
Between 2000 and 2013, a total of 144 deaths, 1,391 patient injuries and 8,061 device malfunctions were reported with robotic surgery, according to the study published in PLOS One in 2016. Burnt or broken pieces of instruments fell into the patient in 14.7 percent of the reported cases. Another 10.5 percent of reports involved electrical arcing of instruments, and 8.6 percent involved unintended operation of instruments. System errors and video/imaging problems were reported in 5 percent and 2.6 percent of the cases, respectively.
