Amazon has been hiring hundreds of thousands of workers for roles in its warehouses, which it calls fulfillment centers, but those employees have been quitting almost as fast as they can be hired, according to a huge report from The New York Times published on Tuesday.

Many of the over 350,000 workers Amazon hired from July to October stayed with the company "just days or weeks," the report said.

It is soooo easy to purchase from Amazon and they offer a pretty good product. I am amazed that anti-trust and monopoly issues haven’t been brought against them. Who can truly compete with Amazon now?

And super gigantic Amazon was the LAST company I expected to hear tell me I’m a valued customer. I get that service from the owner of our local hardware store all the time, but AMAZON? I was blown away.

Best check your CC statement to see if it was charged for their ‘prime’ BS. They did it to both me and the wife after we specifically told them we were not interested.

Then they wanted to ‘discuss the matter’ when called upon it. We discussed it for almost 20 minutes over the phone until I threatened to get our bank involved-along with the state’s consumer affairs dept. We got our money back that afternoon...

I’ve heard the similar nightmare stories. I don’t deal with companies who treat their employees like s**t.

There are damn good reasons why this company is known for having these massive turnovers. If fact that goes the same for most other companies who can’t keep people.

Whenever someone mentions “metrics” to me I find myself following General Mattis’ sage advice about planning.

Like UPS at Christmas in the warehouse

It’s called “work” for a reason

It’ll make a thinner America

American are not slavish enough to work at Amazon. They’ll have to go to China for people who will abuse themselves for a buck.

It isn’t just the wages.
Amazon’s model it total replacement of every worker in three years.
The metrics they are using push that.

Same with Monsanto/Bayer. The goal is to burn people out faster than the resulting health complications from the work.

And it that keeps spreading, you will get socialism

Those pee in a bottle reports were about delivery drivers. It’s a not uncommon practice for people who work out in the field and it long predates Amazon. At least they ought to have plenty of hand sanitizer these days.

This is a system problem with capitalism. Labor is arbitraged down to the lowest GLOBAL common denominator.

The Iron Law of Wages
