The attack is the third mass shooting in Chicago in a little over a week and came at the end of a burst of violence that saw more than 25 people shot across the city in 10 hours.
The attack prompted Mayor Lori Lightfoot to say Chicago has joined a “club of cities to which no one wants to belong: cities with mass shootings.”
Lightfoot — as she repeatedly has done — decried lack of federal action aimed at “eliminating opportunity for criminals, for children, to get access to illegal guns so that petty disputes turn into mass shooting events, as we’ve seen over and over and over again.”

LOL. Chicago has had a crime problem for decades, with something like 600-900 homicides a year.
I suspect the reason the numbers are lower now due to modern medicine keeping people alive more often.
I haven’t looked into it, but it seems like their shot/killed ratio has been improving. I wonder if they’re getting war-trained EMTs and cops. Everyone carries tourniquets these days.
Every one of those deaths is tragic. These look like rnice people, but even a needless shooting of a scumbag is tragic. It’s been going on for decades, but Lightfoot promised to send police to patrol the ‘hoods. Rah Rah.

What a subtle, underhanded way to try to enact federal gun control for the whole nation. Let your city get out of control and then demand the whole nation lose its gun rights. Like that will solve their local problem.
They elected an insane political hack for mayor and are now paying for it in blood. Pray for the innocent but don’t let them ever vote for a democrat again.
Only then will someone with half a brain be able to start tackling Chicago’s killing machines.

They may be nice people, but they don’t contribute enough for the Dem city gubmint to provide protection.
I would work several jobs to protect my family from these living conditions; other people wouldn’t - and they pay a price.
