An Illinois man has pleaded guilty to accidentally shooting and killing his girlfriend as they posed for selfies with a gun.
Isaiah Cole, 20, and A’Meyah T. Brewton, 21, were taking snaps with the handgun in front of a mirror in September when the tragedy unfolded, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Assistant State’s Attorney Robert Money said Cole was under the influence of marijuana when he removed the pistol’s magazine and put a bullet in the chamber before then mistakenly reloading the gun.

I believe several actors accidentally shot themselves with guns that “Weren’t loaded.”
Certainly that argument can be made and would have significant merit. But, picking the right mate is also an evolutionary marker.
Survival of the fittest must pressure both the male and female of the species. In this instance, the weak female link has been culled.
Nature is cruel, man.

None of my guns can take selfies.

Sounds like he removed the magazine, but there was one in the chamber. Sorry dude, removing the magazine doesn't remove the one that's in the chamber.
She was cute. How’d she hook up with such a looser.
“...he removed the pistol’s magazine and put a bullet in the chamber before then mistakenly reloading the gun...”
My guess is that he cocked the gun, which chambered a round, and then removed the magazine. He then put another magazine in and assumed there was no round chambered. A common, but fatal, mistake.
Sad, but too often true. Negligent discharge
Another rocket scientist.
Just diminishing the gene pool.
Yes. But there is no way anyone can read sense into what was written.
“My guess is that he cocked the gun, which chambered a round, and then removed the magazine”
Cooking a pistol does not chamber a round.
Yup... 99% of the population is clueless about firearms and ammunition.
I remember a story about a cop that hid his duty weapon in the oven every night. Forgot about it and preheated the oven. Might have been a revolver, though.
Oh no. Not A’Mayeh.....
“... several actors accidentally shot themselves with guns that “Weren’t loaded.”
Yes. And think, those guns were loaded with blanks, but still, not to be discharged next to one’s head, heart, etc.
I have to have my mom say now: BE CAREFUL!!!!
Hmmmm... Florida Man on vacation to Illinois? 🤓
It does if it's a Glock (or any other striker-fired clone).
“It does if it’s a Glock (or any other striker-fired clone).”
The trigger action ‘cocks’ the firing pin. If there is not a round already in the chamber there will still be no round in the chamber.
