Hi All,
I don't post here often, but I would greatly appreciate some prayers for me and my family as we navigate the painful predicament we find ourselves to be in.
My 18-year old black short-hair cat, Salem, was diagnosed with feline leukemia last Friday. Over the last two weeks, he has progressively gotten more lethargic, has eaten less and less, and has been shedding quite significantly. We took him to our local veterinarian on Friday given these troubling symptoms and were informed of Salem's diagnosis by the vet.
Last night, we made the difficult decision to euthanize him this coming Wednesday as he has refused any form of solid food and the prognosis for Felv cats at Salem's age is simply too uncertain.
I ask that you pray for my family and my cat as we spend our last 24 hours together. I also ask for prayers for a peaceful transition to Heaven for Salem marked by comfort, fearlessness, and happiness.
Thank you all and God Bless.
‘Some folks have no one or anything other than their pet.’
Tell them to get another one. We outlive them by 60+ years. You take a moment to pause and get over it as life goes on. It’s lefties that want you to think their problems are your concern.
I will pray for your family, losing a lifelong friend of a pet.
I had an 18yr. old kitty I had to put to sleep six months ago it was AWFUL, the following week I adopted another kitty the new kitty really helped with the grief!! Best thing you can do is get another kitty!!
Prayers for you and your pet. I lost my (less than) 3 year old tan tabby, Buffy, a month ago today. She was suffering from some sort of neurological condition for at least a year (vets had no idea what it was despite countless tests being run) and lost her ability to walk in the last days of her life. We had her euthanized to prevent any more suffering. :-(
Thanks to all of you for your kind words and prayers. Salem purred for a brief period today as I rubbed his neck. I’m happy to see that he can express some level of contentment in spite of his condition.
It’s certainly not easy, but I knew this day would inevitably come.
You are doing the right thing.
I have lost many cats and I share your grief. You will remember the good days with your cat and sometimes the tears will come. But the good remembrances will outweigh the sad.
I am sure Salem appreciated every good thing you did.
Praying for Salem and your family. I’m sorry you’re going thru this.

Oh my God, will you please quit being a DICK and go away? I am begging you.
Had to help Molly go a year ago. Tell Salem she’ll show him the sights. Remember the joys, hugs, cuddles and dances, and know you are doing the best for him.
(After weeks of saving efforts, bloody stool showed up the morning of her trip. It was the right time.)
It is so hard to deal with the fact that our pets don't live as long as we do. Saying goodbye to them just hurts.
But, God Bless you for providing a loving home for your kitty for 18 years.
What does leftism have to do with this? You have a hole in your soul.
“I will pray for your family, losing a lifelong friend of a pet.” Please don’t.
“please quit being a DICK and go away”-It’s not like I killed the cat.
“What does leftism have to do with this? You have a hole in your soul.” You may be right but as an example just think the 1619 Project-I haven’t. Go ahead.
