A litter of gray wolf pups has been spotted in Colorado for the first time in around 80 years, according to state wildlife officials.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife said last week that several staff members have observed at least three pups of the endangered species in June. The parents are believed to be M2101 and F1084, or John and Jane as they're known by CPW, who were seen with the pups in the area north of Denver.

My dog love those, I get them smoked from a local butcher. Until they were a couple years old went right through them.
My Beau is a huge bear hunter - he got the biggest Black Bear in the state in 2016 at 480#.
We raise Treeing Walker Coon Hound for raccoon, but there are a few that cross over to bear and are really good at it. We also raise Plott Hounds for bear only.
Shasta will be a bear dog, or both. She seems pretty smart - caught on to ‘fetch’ in like three throws of a tennis ball, yesterday. Of course, I may be prejudice due to her beauty, LOL!
She’s already ‘hunting’ with our Beagle, and she always has her nose to the ground which is a good sign. :)
Dang!
80-year old wolf pups...
Who could have imagined that possibility....
We were getting black bears coming up from Arkansas, but now have a breeding population.
We have suspected bears at our river place for a while because of things happening such as melons being carried off whole, but only last year have had sightings.
The mountain lions have been sighted and fur samples DNA tested as coming from the Dakotas, but only young males so far.
Recently though, a relative found some dead cattle that looked like big cat predation.
Wonder what kind of dogs go after the mountain lions?
I wanted Beau to do a full body mount and we’d keep it at the top of the stairs to freak people out, LOL! But - he just had it made into a rug and it hangs from one of the beams in the family room. It’s a good 10’ tall, and very heavy to lift!
I had a sample of Mountain Lion at a Wild Game Feed. I would've sworn it was pork in taste and texture. I didn't know what it was until AFTER I ate it, LOL!

"The Rhodesian Ridgeback is an all-purpose “Renaissance hound” whose hallmark is the ridge, or stripe of backward-growing hair, on his back. Though the breed was made famous in its native Africa for its skill at tracking and baying – but never, ever killing – lions, today Ridgebacks are cherished family dogs whose owners must be prepared to deal with their independence and strong prey drive."

My ‘Budget Puppy Starter Pack’ always consists of some random bone for gnawing, an empty milk jug for chasing and crinkle-noise making, and a tuggy rope for playing, while saying, “Get that Bear, Shasta! Get that Bear!” ;)
Man, this raising ONE puppy is a piece of cake, compared to the litters of SEVEN and FOUR that I’ve also raised since taking over breeding/weaning/raising/early training chores from Beau. ;)
And, of course, the minute they see HIM each day, I become yesterday’s news, LOL! They must know who pays for their kibble!
Oh yes, we have been around a Rhodesian Ridgeback! We rented a villa in the Virgin Islands and the owner lived in a smaller house on the property with his Rhodesian. I forgot its name, but it was a great dog.
The dog had free reign on the property, was very gentle with tennants, but intimidating to intruders. The villa was left open all the time with no worries about theft.
Good plan...When predators eat “humans”, they mostly eat Liberals...Mostly...
Conservatives tend to go about well armed...
What a cutie. My African Boerboel was very cute as a clumsy 8 week old pup.
Nowadays he would love to tangle with a bear or a lion but not too many of those in my backyard.
Great! Glad you’ve met the breed. One of my girlfriends has one as a ‘rescue dog’ and he’s sweet as can be, and very spoiled. He also LOVES their cats...and not in a creepy way, LOL! Pretty sure ‘Roscoe’ has forgotten his true nature by now. ;)
A Ridgeback would be a great dog to have here running loose on the farm. Basically a Kibble-propelled Alarm System. ;)
That is another cool breed! WAY too much dog for me to handle, though. ;)
Correct. That collar will provide GPS info of the wolf.
Sounds like a heavenly spot to hunt, though! ;)
I get that, too. But bear meat IS delicious! Low in fat and no carbs. ;)
