I’ve heard crayfish referred to as “mudbugs.” Heard a guy in a bar say that koalas were in the cat family, too. Gotta pick your battles. I know a guy that’s allergic to shellfish. Pretty sure he wouldn’t eat a cicada, either, but that proves nothing. I suppose that they’d test for the protein responsible for shellfish allergies if they thought a lot of people would be eating cicadas.

I don’t see anything in the scientific classification indicating that Koalas are related to cats - except that they’re both chordate mammals.

And so are WE. It’s just one, big, very inter-related universe....I guess.
