I believe this is a factual event, but this is on the internet.

A harpoon might work?

I have read of attempts of using RF to shut down the engine : RF Safe-Stop shuts down car engines with radio pulse https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-25197786

This is wild and more so if they are shooting at the cops while being grabbed.

Back on Thunder Road, Lucas Doolin had a quick release on his bumper, so that when the Revenuers latched onto him, he just pulled the cable, leaving them only with his bumper.

The AZ DPS is a great LEO agency.

Had never heard of this harpoon method before, pretty effective.

As far as the perp goes, guilty and guilty!

better demo of how it works.

looks like probably less damage to a police vehicle than a pit maneuver.

but if equipped cops will start using them unnecessarily just like they do tasers.

I am sure this does nothing good to the grappled car.

At a minimum it will rip the brake line apart

Even with the cop right next to her she kept on harassing the other car! She must have been on LSD or something similar.

Meth - mug shot gives it away.

Of course. Because you are way too smart to be fooled by anything on the interwebs.

"quick release on his bumper"

Current factory standard.

Ever noticed bumper shells on the side of roadways, complete with the license plate?

What was behind that bumper shell? Styrofoam.

The last modern vehicle I had with a steel bumper was a Lincoln MK VII

A nice find!

Interesting how they can cut them loose with a disabled wheel.

The trailer stop was cool.

Thanks

I really wanted to see them “grab” the guy running down the road.

This is the most incredible “pit stop” EVER!
This showed up on my Youtube after watching the harpoon video.

Arkansas State Police 109 MPH PIT Maneuver | The Complete Pursuit https://youtu.be/2FdNa8uho_Y

WARNING! This video is 21 minutes, after a couple of minutes in you will not want to stop.
Make your very own pit stop first and have a full cup of coffee before starting.

Totally wild, and copper survived after a few hospital days, the jamoke not so much.

Nope. The intense stare says this is a woman trying to get a woman she thinks has been messin’ around with her man. However, that’s just my impression.

BTW, I think the name “Bumper Grabber” for the device is causing some confusion.

The device is anchored to the frame of the police car. It uses folding arms mounted on the cruiser’s front bumper to deploy a strong cable-reinforced strap structure (shown in the video) to grab (entangle) the rear wheel of the fleeing vehicle. Hence, a “bumper (mounted) grabber.” The fleeing car’s rear bumper is never engaged.

Once entangled, the police car brakes to bring the pursuit to a slow, controlled halt. Sort of like having a 6000 lb anchor suddenly attached to the back wheels of your car. The driver is still in control of the car but the prospect of successfully evading is gone.

Probably a lot easier to execute the stop than the PIT maneuver and a lot safer for the officers, the criminal, and other motorists.

Very cool. First time I learned about the grabber. Sadly, that slick tool would end the most watched shows on Los Angeles tv news stations where car chases can run for two hours with massive viewers.
