A company representative said about 98.5% of the millions of rounds of ammo stolen earlier this week were .22 caliber, which is seldom used by Mexican drug cartels.
The total quantity was not clear, but was estimated to be about 7 million rounds. The ammunition is sold in the United States under the Aguila brand.
The ammunition is made in Cuernavaca, a city just south of the capital, and was being taken north on trucks to the United States when the shipment was hijacked, The drivers were later found alive.

You have it backwards. If you get shot in the leg with a 22 you probably survive. With a 38+ you die the horrible slow death.
Either one in the heart or head kills you pretty quick.
22 250 rounds are especially useful against woodchucks. Js
Well, enough lead in any caliber will bring down even the biggest nuisance in your back yard.
Is that right? I know a case where an individual took a 22 to the head, penetrated the skull, striking the skull interior at an angle, causing the round to spin around the inside of the victim skull about 5 times. It basically blended the victim's brain. They were dead before they hit the floor.
In any event, that's not what this thread is about.
Lots of target
Practice there,,,
Aguila makes a round with a higher velocity than CCI Stingers.
I recall an event where BLM troops were carrying mostly .22lr AR models. With a few million rounds of 22lr a lot of practice can be accomplished and a hail of .22lr rounds is quite deadly.
Hey, great advice, Where can I get some?

“How about fantasyland?”
When was the last time you had success at that?
Beat me to it. They do burn dirty and the burnt powder has that distinct stink. It normally reserve it for the .22 revolver at the range, but due to the ammo shortage I had to use it during an Appleseed weekend.

The Ruger 10/22 took it though without a single problem and the stink is noticeably less outdoors.
I bought an OpSol clip for my Shockwave but haven’t been able to find mini shells to try it out. I hope supply catches up to demand soon.
Yes, I have some of better quality Aquila .22 ammo, but would not have bought it if supply was not so short.
I only have 3 .22 rifles, a lever, a pump and a single shot bolt action rifle. No pistols.
I reload all of my other rifle calibers and .38/357 pistol. Have a 9mm pistol, it is a collectors gun, I don’t reload for it. Don’t like to shoot 9mm
I have a .22 CO2 pellet gun and a .177 caliber pump up BB gun. They shoot cheap. Work fine for birds and squirrels. Have killed several rattle snakes with the pump up air rifle. They are bad to get into my implement shed.
Drivers left alive?
Damn Americans. Oh well, chalk up a win for our side.
Biden and the democrats send the cartels the best weapons and ammo available.
Cartel gotta reload too. 😐
