It’s just a common diabetes drug with a new name and at a higher dose.
Hint, hint.
And a big, big price
“common diabetes drug ... higher dose”
which means one of two things:
A. one can expect it to cause hypoglycemia for those who already have normal or low blood sugar ...
B. It never worked as a diabetes drug ....
And a new trademark protecting it.
at 333 dollars per injection apparently
“It’s just a common diabetes drug with a new name and at a higher dose.”
I was having the recognized problems with jardiance so they switched me to ozempic, which is the less powerful diabetic drug mentioned in the article. They didn’t explain well how the weight loss was accomplished for wegovy but with ozempic it is because of loss of appetite. You find yourself just not being hungry for extended lengths of time. I’ve gone over 24 hours without hunger but a diabetic has to eat to maintain levels and not start ketoacidosis, (DKA). So constant glucose monitoring and insulin adjustments become more critical and more common. There’s good’s and bad’s with changes.

I’m guessing the latest patent extension is about to expire.
