Out classic sci-fi idea of traversing space via a starship is fanciful, but not likely the technology actually deployed. Even if we could achieve speeds many multiples beyond the speed of light, distances are still vast.

Our nearest neighbor, Proxima Centauri is about 4 light years away. Traveling at 10X the speed of light it would take 4.8 months to reach that system. And you’d have to figure out how to deflect even the most microscopic of particles as at that speed the kinetic energy of the impact would likely destroy the ship.

We’ve already conducted experiments in quantum entanglement which prove action at a distance. This means, at some level, two points in space are actually connected. At some level, distance is irrelevant. Some have hypothesized all points in the universe are connected, which follows in a neat way from the concept of the Big Bang.

Perhaps a more technologically advanced species, more advanced by 200, 500, or 2,000 years, has figured out how to transport themselves instantaneously to any point in the universe.

Absolutely... There are static time/space portal locations both on land and in the sea. One of the most active is off the coast of Sao Paulo Brazil where sightings are common.

Wouldn't it follow then that two point in time are connected.

Exactly this.

While I believe the prevailing opinion among theoretical physicists is 'folding space' or wormhole travel (so-called Minkowski wormholes) are probably not possible under the laws of physics as they're currently understood, most will admit that it's impossible to know for certain.

It's important to keep in mind that mere 60-years after man harnessed the power of electricity, we split the atom. Less than 100-years after man achieved powered, heavier-than-air flight, we did it again on a celestial body in our solar system. That's....amazing.

Think about where we'll be in another 100K-years. We literally can't imagine what's possible just as no one in the 19th century believed it would be possible to launch an autonomous, rotary drone on Mars on day. Think about where a civilization might be technologically if it were 100M-years older.
