They’re redheaded, quick-footed, and can hide under cars.

The Peter’s rock agama is another non-native reptile species calling South Florida home, according to News 6 partner WPLG.

“The first reported acknowledgment of them being in Florida was in 1976,” said Ken Gioeli with the University of Florida.

The agamas are native to East Africa and were likely introduced to Florida as exotic pets, Gioeli said. One reptile dealer is reported to be responsible for releasing them in Homestead.

Males have a bright reddish head and a multicolored tail, and recently their population seems to be booming in South Florida. They’ve been spotted in urbanized environments like strip malls and parking lots.

The agama’s skills as agile hitchhikers have scientists concerned.

“You’ll drive somewhere and bring that lizard with you,” said Dr. Bryan Falk

Becouse we have no souls and our freckles make us so cute at birth that those parents unfortunate enough to have a ginger baby can not bring themselves to strangle us at birth. Eventually those parents learn there mistake but by then its to late.

"Redheads, strippers, hairdressers, girls named Tiffany..."

Never knew a Tiffany but years ago was acquainted with a little thing named Embassy Sweets.

“Males have a bright reddish head and a multicolored tail, and recently their population seems to be booming in South Florida. They’ve been spotted in urbanized environments like strip malls and parking lots.”

They reportedly have cast 25,000 straight ticket votes for Democrats in the 2020 election.
But Broward County election commissioner Democrat Fabalous Cheatalot; said the votes are all 100% legitimate.
Cheatalot said its racist and insulting to question the integrity of the Peter Rock Agama vote total. Cheatalot said its typical Republican hypocrisy and fear of immigrants to question the legitimacy of the votes.

these critters eat termites, ants, other reptiles and small mammals (mice?) which is cool except they can get to a foot long and can climb walls which is not cool. The males, which keep a family group, hang out on the corner - a territorial marker like a rock. Eggs are buried 5cm under the surface of sunny spots, so disturbing the eggs around a territorial marker might be a way to control them.

Perfect match!

Was Stan Lee inspired by these colorful creatures?

The resemblance is spooky.
