Pick a car, any car, and there is someone who loves it, regardless of conventional wisdom or popular opinion. And our automotive lives are richer and fuller because of this. Case in point, this 1976 Datsun B210 for sale on Hemmings.com. Once positioned as an affordable fuel-miser, it's exactly the kind of car that typically gets used up and disappears from the collective consciousness. But not this one, as it turns out. From the seller's description: All original, extremely solid, retains all factory equipment from new, Original window sticker, Runs and drives great, feels strong with no hesitations, rattles, squeaks, or fading inside. Not very many of these little datsuns left in this condition. $13,500

I have seen two rambler metropolitans this year. This is a 1960s version of the Yugo.

I had a lime green Datsun F-10 hatchback for a while. Dropped a valve seat and ran on 3 cylinders until I could find a new head. Daily driver back in the lean years. Saw someplace it was in the top ten ugliest car contest. 😱🙌

A friend’s family had one. It was before the most of the imports came with Front-Wheel-Drive. Not only did the Datsun have Real-Wheel-Drive in it, it was posi-traction as he often proved when revving it and popping the clutch. The light rear made it easy to lay two very thin strips of rubber for about eight feet.

My college roomie and her husband were given a Datsun B210 as wedding gift from his parents Aug 1976. In HOUSTON, TX, a stripped down model with NO A/C. Didn’t need as much upkeep as the lime green Rambler that was retired.

good memories - the look on her face when she realized that car was THEIRS!

I remember a joke on the brand name of Datsun. No facts are in evidence behind the joke!

In WW2, as part of Axis tech sharing, Germany sent over some VW auto engineers. At Nissan Motors they were shown the plans of a new car for the post-war. When asked how soon the car could be built, the answer was 2 months after the end of the war. Their bemused response was ... [drum roll] ... “Dat soon!?”

(ducking)

I had a 1979 version. Crap brown. Could not kill it. Basically a metal shell with an engine.

I had an Edison NJ Escort stationwagon... terrible.

Your model escorts were made overseas, since the colts were Mitsubishi, perhaps the Escorts of later vintage were also.

It was just Datsun 210 iirc.
Didnt add the B until 1980 or so.

Actually you have that backwards. 1980 was when they DROPPED the "B" and called it just the 210. By father had one in metallic green. He painted the wheels gold and added read window louvres, and removed the catalytic converter. Ran like a champ.

I remember these cars when I was a kid. Never liked the weird honeycomb’esque hubcaps. Now many years later it doesn’t bother me, and in this like new condition it seems oddly enough rather appealing lol.

This was my first ride (it is actually an Isuzu that Chevy labeled and marketed). Loved this truck... We called the color "baby poop brown".
