Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was a surprise guest at the Gulf Coast Jam concert festival on Sunday — speaking to the massive crowd of music fans about how “Florida chose freedom over Fauci-ism.”
Gulf Coast Jam which featured performers like Chris Stapleton, Brooks & Dunn, and Old Dominion was the largest music festival in the US since the pandemic began

DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw posted clips of the governor’s appearance and the crowd’s reaction on Twitter.
“Florida chose freedom over Fauci-ism,” DeSantis said, making the crowd go wild.
“My message for other states and other countries: open you states, open your schools, let people live their lives, don’t make them wear masks,” DeSantis added.

Sorry, DeSantis did shut down Florida. He wasn’t as bad as other governors, but he bought into all the bull crap over the Chi Com Flu and did not value individual responsibility, personal freedom and liberty.

Last July 4th, I went to a full blown parade in a small town in central Texas. BBQ, parade, fireworks, state politicians speaking and all the normal elements.
Small towns in the south look like nothing ever happened.

C’mon man... he did shut the state down NOT KNOWING anything more than anyone else did at the time, BUUUUUTTTTT he conducted a snappy about-face when FACTS started coming out and he hasn’t looked back since.
I guess you got the message we Gulf Coasters don’t care too much for folks coming down here without checking their failed politics at the state lines! Good for you.

Houstonians can view the fireworks live from nearby parks, but like last year, Mayor Sylvester Turner said the public will not be able to physically watch the live music acts downtown.
Houston’s Fourth of July event, Freedom Over Texas, will look different for the second consecutive year due to the pandemic.
Like last year, the show will be broadcast live on ABC 13, and available for streaming. But Mayor Sylvester Turner said the public will not be able to physically watch the live music acts.
“Fifty percent of Houstonians vaccinated is not enough,” Turner said. “We need more people to get vaccinated before we really kind of get back to business as normal. Fifty percent won’t do it. We need more and more.”
The in-person event was postponed in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, with a concert including several musical acts such as the Houston Symphony Orchestra streamed virtually in its place.
This year’s concert celebration will again be televised and streamed online on ABC 13. Singer-songwriter Lee Brice will headline the show, which also includes Jimmie Allen, Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers, Alanis Sophia Sanchez and others....
...But despite the ease of COVID-19 protocols and fewer restrictions, the traditional festival format, which was normally held along Buffalo Bayou Park, will be postponed until at least next year. As the city of Houston continues to open back up, Turner said he hoped to see the return of fully functional city events by this fall...
