Nations League final in Denver between the United States and Mexico was marred by unruly fan behavior that included objects thrown onto the field and a brief pause in the game because of fans using an anti-gay chant.
Referee John Pitti resumed the match after three minutes as players on both sides pleaded with the crowd to stop using the chant.
This was the second tournament match to be halted due to anti-gay chants at Empower Field at Mile High. Mexico's semifinal win over Costa Rica was also briefly paused. That match also saw several fans ejected from the stadium
Should the chant continue to be used, the referee has the authority to send the players to the locker rooms and can also call for the match to be abandoned.

Do the gay caballeros return a chant in reply? Gay chorus call and response?
Is an "anti-gay chant" one that says "Jesus is Lord! Halleluiah!" ?
“We’re not happy. We’re not happy. We’re not happy. ..”
—“We’re not happy. We’re not happy. We’re not happy. ..”
The response...
I feel pretty, oh so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and gay
And I pity
Any girl who isn’t me today
I watched a little of the game and was appalled at all the Mexican flags in our soil Rooting for the Mexican soccer team in Denver. This only tells you that they will never assimilate into our culture and that those people probably many illegals Have a strong allegiance to their nation. They are only here to sponge off the American taxpayer. The game turned out to be explosive and unfortunately those Mexican nationals hate what the United States stands for. Colorado will never ever again be a red state. The liberals have their tentacles wrapped around the voting cheating machine in Colorado and will not ever let go. The only way we will get Colorado back is if we cheat our way and flip it back to red.
well, i am not clicking on espn
no clicks for commies
anyone know what the chant was?
—”was appalled at all the Mexican flags in our soil Rooting for the Mexican soccer team in Denver.”
Had it been an Irish team playing in Boston ...
At least 70% of those attending were rooting for Mexico. And I would bet that most of them were “American citizens”, i.e. anchor babies.
—”anyone know what the chant was?”
Unstated at espn.
Probably not the Queer Nation slogan “We’re Here! We’re Queer! Get used to it!”?
Mexicans are taught to hate us from the time they’re born. They’re fed a steady diet of hate that tells them all of the American Southwest was theirs and we stole from them.
Their stated aim is to take it back by ‘’outbreeding the gringos’’(whites).
Don’t ever be fooled by their ‘’Me just humble Mexicano’’ bulls**t. They mean to do away with us.
I HATE Mexico and Mexicans. They are and always have been our enemies.
“PUTO!”
They're not pledging allegiance to Ireland, only the capital of Ireland. For those who don't know, Boston, not Dublin, is the capital of Ireland. Just ask them.
Yet, they don't intend to change the United States into a Third World toilet. Their ancestors fought for American independence from the British. The later arrivals even dropped the brogue, as compared to some of the illegal alien sub-literates who insist on being catered to while speaking a foreign language.
I agree, avoid ESPN.
This is all about the current PC culture and our leftist getting upset by words and then twisting these words to try and make them worse than they are.
They are shouting the word “PUTO”. They like to yell it to players on the opposing team to throw off their game.
Some liken it to the confederate flag thing,....Just because it’s not offensive to YOU doesn’t mean it’s not offensive to someone else.
Spanish speakers tell me that it’s not realy homophobic. The closest translation would be “bitch” or “fucker” or “whore”, there are homophobic words just like any other language but this isn’t one of them. So please stop with the nonsense.
So just another typical team Mexico crowd. Got it.
You should see it in Dallas. I saw these two teams play at the Cotton Bowl years ago. I felt like a minority there. We were constantly getting stuff thrown at us. The only saving grace was the last minute winning goal by team USA.
I’d respectfully differ... l work with and know ‘Mexicans’, some are good guys and others aren’t. It’s no different than any population.
“They’re fed a steady diet of hate that tells them all of the American Southwest was theirs and we stole from them.”
The people who lived in California and New Mexico at the time always referred to themselves as ‘Spanish’, not Mexican.
Looks like USA won yesterday’s game 3-2.
Yep!
—”They’re not pledging allegiance to Ireland”
Chicago has many great Americans of Irish descent and I have known many.
But I did have the misfortune to work a few years with a much lesser one.
My great ^6 grandfather and his brother left the Scottish Highlands and fought for Gen Cornwallis, the family name is well listed at Culloden.
The jamoke that I worked with was some kind of IRA wannabe and when he realized that I was not Irish, he what a fit.
I then told him that I was a Lutheran he went ape shite.
He talked like he was connected to the IRA and claimed to visit Ireland every few months? (the early 1980s)
He was born and raised in the same suburb I was, his father was a big-money guy in the area.
I also worked with an actual Irishman who explained how I was a “wrongfooter”.
One day he arrived at work in the late afternoon, He had just left his swearing-in ceremony to be a United States Citizen. AND WAS HE HAPPY!
He lives in my area and has a nice flagpole flying the US flag.
