They're not pledging allegiance to Ireland, only the capital of Ireland. For those who don't know, Boston, not Dublin, is the capital of Ireland. Just ask them.
Yet, they don't intend to change the United States into a Third World toilet. Their ancestors fought for American independence from the British. The later arrivals even dropped the brogue, as compared to some of the illegal alien sub-literates who insist on being catered to while speaking a foreign language.
—”They’re not pledging allegiance to Ireland”
Chicago has many great Americans of Irish descent and I have known many.
But I did have the misfortune to work a few years with a much lesser one.
My great ^6 grandfather and his brother left the Scottish Highlands and fought for Gen Cornwallis, the family name is well listed at Culloden.
The jamoke that I worked with was some kind of IRA wannabe and when he realized that I was not Irish, he what a fit.
I then told him that I was a Lutheran he went ape shite.
He talked like he was connected to the IRA and claimed to visit Ireland every few months? (the early 1980s)
He was born and raised in the same suburb I was, his father was a big-money guy in the area.
I also worked with an actual Irishman who explained how I was a “wrongfooter”.
One day he arrived at work in the late afternoon, He had just left his swearing-in ceremony to be a United States Citizen. AND WAS HE HAPPY!
He lives in my area and has a nice flagpole flying the US flag.
