It clearly mutates millions of your hemoglobin cells into Frankensteins then they reproduce 168 new mutations most of which dies off fairly quickly. They're objective is to create a mitochondrion that will live in your body. Though I personally haven't figured out what that mitochondrion function will be yet. mitochondria convert energy and many other metabolic functions including immune signaling.
