Many thanks to Francis Menton for allowing his entire articles to be posted, as long as there is attribution and a link, of course.

California May Be Crazy In Its “Climate” Initiatives, But New York Wants To Be Even Crazier

AKA the usual suspects.

New York was our crazy uncle in the attic even before we became a nation.

In the competition among the states to establish progressive and “woke” bona fides, California and New York run neck and neck for the lead positions.

Granted they lead in the insanity, and a number of other states are close behind, but Colorado unfortunately tries very hard too. It is all too often sad, blatant, ill-conceived "I want to play too!" kinds of things. The leftists up in Denver and Boulder are like petulant little kids stomping their foot and demanding "Don't ignore me!" It is obvious they are trying to impress the leftists on the coasts, not represent the people of the state.

The Dems are going to wind up shutting down the home building industry with their “climate change” policies. Lumber is already getting priced out of reach. We should be opening up our forests to lumbering instead of watching them burn.

We’re using precious farmlands for solar farms. I can’t eat electricity.

Less than 15% of land on the planet is suitable for wind power to be sustainable. About 5% of it is really good for wind power.

For solar, it’s not sustainable above the 40th parallel for most of the year in the US.

We lived off grid for 5 years on the 38th parallel(Ctrl MO) relying on a few solar panels for LED lighting and other very light electric loads. In winter, we’d get about 3-4 hours of decent charge on the batteries on sunny days. I had to get up on the roof in early Winter and tilt the panels and then lay them back down in Spring. At 9am, the sun might be hitting the panels but the rays have to go through the atmosphere at such an angle that it has more to go through making it ineffective. 10am - 2pm was the only effective time.

That’s 4 hours out of 24 and only on sunny days.

Every normal person that’s done their homework knows this but gov and greenies deny reality.

I think they would prefer if we all lived in shanties with dirt floors, no heat and walked or rode a bike everywhere. I overheard the mother of a guy I worked for talking about her and her husband’s worldly vacations.

“The workers in these other countries don’t have cars or big houses and they seem perfectly happy. Why can’t “our” workers be like that?” (She emphasized “our” like she was an owner)

Of course their favorite area was the South Pacific and I was in FL when I heard her so shanties might work but in NY, try living in a shanty with no heat and walking all year. Better get some dogs and snuggle up. It’s gonna be a Three Dog Night.
