Ending the $300 bump is a good start. But the big kick in the pants won't come until all these states end the eviction moratorium. You can live pretty cheap when you don't have to pay your rent and there's nothing your landlord can do about it.
“... people, such as the long-term unemployed and freelancers...”
Don’t look now, but ‘people are talking’ about the possibilty of a forth stimulus check coming out later this year.
“However, governors in 24 states have pledged to cancel their participation in these programs early, leaving millions of struggling Americans in the lurch this summer.”
Just please, get a job.
Fixed it.
A lot of part timers are part timers by choice.
I wonder how many of those are refusing to go back to work because of the muzzles...
Get back to work folks!
Enough with this pandemic hoax already.
Oh no! The horrors! The chil’uns will starve!!!!
In the meanwhile, our garbage pickup company cannot find drivers and handlers. They used to pick up garbage like clockwork on Thursday mornings before the pandemic. Now it is 1 and sometimes 2 days late pickup. The garbage can stays near sidewalk, for up to 2 days, encouraging coons & other rodents.
The jobs are open but no one wants them. Too much money in unemployment benefits.
in the lurch
so government confiscating others’ money and acting as parent giving it away as allowances, is gonna be a democratic platform staple
this is the back door to universal income
yet anothr covid goal/agenda furthered by deliberately wrecking the us economy
The lock downs and thus the $300 should never have happened yet we have totalitarians among us.
Booze and drug stocks depressed.
“Many economists and analysts disagree, noting that several factors are preventing people from finding suitable work — including ... fear of contracting COVID-19.”
If only Maynard G. Krebs had had these economists and analysts backing him up.
“struggling?”. Every store and restaurant I go into has a help wanted sign. So “ struggle “ your a$$ on down to the store and get a job.
What Texas was paying came out to 11.40/hr after taxes. It was far from a fortune.
But, my argument against Texas refusing the covid money was that states like CA and NY would still keep getting it. As far as I’m concerned, gov Abbot just shot the Texas taxpayer in the foot by refusing to take anymore federal covid money. The people receiving it were spending it in the local Texas economy. Now, bums in CA and NY will be spending it in their states economy.
The FOOLS! This will lead directly to the return of slavery and segregation, out of control global warming and may even contribute to poor test scores of various groups.
The real sad part is that we still have to pay the taxes which then go to the RAT infested states and its hordes of free loaders.
One study found that unemployment in some states was equivalent to earning 32K a year.
