I remember my family going to an Up With People concert when I was very young. This particular video UWP performance was from 1965. It'd be nice if Donald Trump could work something like this into his rallies starting next month. The songs are patriotic, spirit-filled and very inspiring! It'd even be way too cool to get together some of the original cast members too!

Hmm. That picture looks a lot like the Christie Minstrels. I seem to remember them from the 70s wearing red/white/blue and doing speedskating moves on stage while they sang.
Actually, I’m not kidding. Think about it - THE remedy for all this BLM, divest, “touchy-feely” stuff under sleepy joe.

I’ve been thinking about sharing this idea with the FReepers since President Trump was in office. I’m a transplanted US citizen living in Canada. Married and living here in Toronto since 2003. My heart YEARNS for the type of (relatively) “unspoiled” America that came out in these UWP songs. I love the country of my birth, even though I’m living in Canada. Still well up in tears when I hear the US national anthem. Honest-to-God, I do.

Yeah, it was. In the middle of the Viet Nam war. Still it made an impact on many of us growing up then.
At the end of 1965 I became a ‘hippie’ (who secretly voted conservative). I may have gone ‘the other way’ for a while, but UWP was joyous. Why can’t we find middle ground, without being cheesy?

Many of us do. The idea is great. It just needs to be updated.
And I don’t think we will ever go back to the good life of the 1960s. Too much bad juju. But we can try. We can always try.
...and there’s already thousands of patriotic Americans that turn out for Trump rallies. I would PAY to watch something like an UWP theme at a Trump rally. Really would.
