For a good design, form follows function
Today, autos are designed to function well and that includes aerodynamics. The form achieves the best shape at cruising speed to achieve the best gasoline consumption rate
Yes, I understand all that. But at what cost?
I guess in the not-too-distant future all cars will look identical, a result of that “perfect” functional design. Same perfect aerodynamic shape, same everything. This same general idea could apply for any product going forward. Who knows, maybe even humans one day, via bio-engineering. Hard to improve off perfection.
