Well my dad gave his life and he’d be proud of all his kids without a doubt for what they’ve become..and his grandkids.
FIL response was colorful to say the least.
gee I’m so happy for you
I was called babykiller by dirtbags but that didn’t sting as much as what I heard that day.
Over the years I’ve lost my rage but to me VFW is still a four letter word.
Look at the replies on this thread moron. They have nothing to do with Memorial Day.
Just pointing that out to morons like you who are totally clueless.
I’m a lifetime member with my home post being in Virginia. Moved to Alabama recently and called the VFW in Fairhope Alabama and asked if they were putting on a breakfast or a ceremony.
I was told to call the American Legion... This post won’t open until 1500 and it’s business as usual.
Can y’all believe that?
Veterans Day, honoring those who served.
Armed Forces Day, honoring those serving.
For years I’ve believed that after Korea the communist party infiltrated the leadership of the VFW.
That is the only thing I can think of to explain the hostility they showed to returning Vietnam vets.
That doesn’t excuse what they did and its still probably rotten with communist scum, so I’ll never trust them and won’t weep any tears at their demise.
We waited too long to try and sign up recent vets. 30 years ago we had over 2500 members at our Post.
