I’ll be surprised if ‘wokeness’ wasn’t a major factor.

They were so woke, as you label them, that they served in our country's military with distinction. I salute them and resent their tragic murder.

They were murdered because the perps were after their son due to some dispute about working for a relative.

Brenda McDaniel served in the Army from 1983 to 2009 and worked as the White House nurse during the Clinton administration, the Washington Post said.

She retired as a colonel after two stints in Iraq and winning numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit.

Edward McDaniel’s mother told the outlet that her son joined the Army in 1995 and also had done two tours of Iraq. His military medals included those for Meritorious Service, Army Commendation and National Defense Service and the Combat Medic Badge.

At the time of his murder, Edward was a doctor of internal medicine at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia, where he served as the director of executive medicine, Army officials told the outlet.

Son meets these 2 alleged killers, the two alleged killers, find about the docs, pressure the son into getting some scripts, the son refuses.

The extortionists (at this point), tell the son they’ll kill the doc’s if he doesn’t comply... which they know to kill off potehtial suppliers so they pay the docs a visit, threatening to kill the son if the docs don’t comply. The whole plan goes downhill from there.

I think this was to do with drugs, either buying, selling or not fully paying for it.
This sort of outcome is always a possibility as long as such drugs remain mostly illegal, black market items.
If robbery was the motive, two gunmen would not necessarily by needed. Mostly, one talks, orders and threatens, while the other keeps his weapon aimed at the victim.
