Yes you would think so... should be easy to get them out. We have friends whose elderly parents lived in Seattle. A broken down RV parked in the alley behind their house. After a few days they complained but the police said that there was nothing that they could do. Their RV's toilet either did not work or their tank was full because the people pooped in their back yard every day.
The elderly parents could not get any sleep because the squatters were loud as well and they were so worried and irritated about the situation. Their dad had a stroke at least partially related to the stress of the situation, and he died a few weeks later. The mom was afraid to live alone in the house. As soon as she stopped staying there the squatters moved in. The police would do nothing about it. It took months and thousands of dollars for the eviction process to complete. When the squatters finally left they had stolen everything and trashed the house to the point that it was condemned. The house was torn down and their mother died as well.
Nothing happened to the squatters and I assume that they went on to another place and did the same thing.
Ann, the police are not your friends.
They are trained or paid off to crack down on law-abiding citizens. I stopped supporting the police after what happened on Jan 6th.
This type of thing has been happening for almost 20 years.
I had a close friend loose her home in Portland for something very similar.
One of the homes in my development had a squatter.
The residents in the HOA took control and then handed him over to Scottsdale police.
It is all about “who you know”—also if they had funds to hire a top notch attorney the story would have turned out differently.
Some animals are more equal than others.
I have left out quite a bit of detail. They turned off the poser and water early on. They hired “top notch attorneys” and in fact went through at least a couple firms and spent many thousands of dollars. Nothing meaningful was ever accomplished. Everything that you think that you know about this type of situation gets turned on its head when you actually go through it.

Now by telegraphing your intent on the web you may be left fighting a 1st degree murder charge regardless of what the circumstances really were. Just saying.
If none of that worked then what they needed was a “fixer”.
They are out there—for a price. They can work the system, even if it means bribing local officials to get stuff done.

If anyone questions whether squatters can be removed, ask yourself this simple question:
“If the squatter did this at the home of the police chief, would they be removed?”
So we know they _can_ be removed.
You just need to influence the _right_ people in a way that makes it worth their while.
Things will eventually get to militia groups dealing with these things. Which devolves into turf wars and warlords.
And burn down the house.🙄
