I tried their rising crust pizza for the first time last week. Not bad...cheap enough and very convenient.

My Italian neighbors used to buy bread dough or pizza dough from the local baker, fry hunks of it in oil and roll them in sugar.

Americans make them with confectioner's sugar, but I had them as street food in Naples rolled in table sugar.

BTW, I found out that Mama Cozzi’s Pizza at Aldis is the same as DiGiorno but a lot CHEAPER.

Loved that festival—before Cuomo and Kaiser Wilhelm ruined NYC for the time being. Smells of the outdoor cooking would stay in my active recollections for days afterward. I have lots of food-related kitchen decor items bought at the festival. The Catholic service where they bless the statue of Mary before parading it along the street is very beautiful. There is also a tiny storefront Orthodox church up Mulberry street that is open to tourists during the festival. Lovely.

Sadly, my favorite Neapolitan/Sicilian restaurant along Mulberry closed a while back.
