If you have enough money, apologies are easier than permission. So what if you have to plant replacement trees. It’ll be 20-40 years before they block the view again.

I can guarantee you that the rich end of the lake isn’t stupid. They know exactly what they are doing.

I remember something like this happening in Seattle a few years ago. In his case the offender was forced to plant replacement trees and fined - all totaling somewhere around $750,000.

I would imagine the company those unidentified Mexicans that did this work is facing some penalties as well.

I doubt a reputable company would have taken such a job.

So someone trespassed on property that was not theirs and cut some wood that was not theirs to cut. How spiteful would it be for someone to go into the house and chainsaw through the rafters or floor joists? Perhaps they could cut enough to force the house to be condemned.

Hey, turn about is fair play right?

I’m still working on our view of a ridge about 1/4 mile away. Only about a hundred trees to go. All on my property of course. That guy’s going to be fined big time.

The tress were not on the private property owners property.

Therefore, the private property owner is liable.

What I have a problem with is..if these trees were on the private property and they prevented them from cutting/trimming them.

And that is your right. And you are right, they are in trouble.

1. The COE rangers here are sharp, and a couple grew up around here. They would know that 10 trees dying in one year ‘magically’ is not natural. They know to look for the copper nails, bark cuts, and herbicide damage.
2. Even dead trees, when downed, cannot be removed. Only by permit, and only to clear a designated path to the lake.
3. If you have a grandfathered grass cutting permit you can remove dead wood.

Net: don’t mess with national forest land. It’ll cost ya.

Was it the NW case where a judge cut trees on park land?

enjoy their million dollar view, because you can’t uncut trees.

But you can plant 30 footers or taller if the terrain allows

But they weren’t on his property. Property belonged to an organization. Come modify something on my property without my permission and see what is waiting for you.

Hopefully they will make him pay for the most expensive tree service in the country to come and plant the tallest trees possible right where these were. Should be able to do it for under $25K a tree. Can pay for the trees, or get a lien on his house.

Stupid should hurt. Badly.

If the homeowner had declared a BLM protest rally and burned the fucking trees down, they would get an award.

We see the left glory all the time in using the gubermint to punish someone they disagree with. Looks like there’s no shortage of identical busybodies here.

Well you shouldn’t cut down trees - unless they are on your own property.

Exactly. I'm siding with the trail users on this one. They weren't his to cut.
