“Self-sufficiency” was part of “rugged individualism”.

A lot of that changed with LBJ and “The Great Society”, offering folks a means to become government-sufficient.

Therefore, if you mention “self-sufficiency” today, you just might be talking to a red-blooded American, and not a porch-sitter.

So, “American prosperity” is a bad thing? Does that mean that you do understand the term “debtor nation”?

Wasn’t it Jesus that said, ‘owe nobody nothing’? (paraphrased)

Being capable is not being self-sufficient. Self sufficient means not having a sense of needing God and believing that you don’t need prayer or humility.
God says He hates self sufficiency.
