Maricopa County Lawyer Demands 2020 Auditors Preserve All Documents, May File Lawsuit

An attorney representing Maricopa County sent Republican state Senate President Karen Fann a letter ordering the preservation of all documents relating to the audit of the county.
Maricopa County attorney Allister Adel sent the notice (pdf) to Fann claiming that some of the auditors involved in the process made potentially false or defamatory allegations.

They won’t file a lawsuit. That is too easy to prove that the folder was deleted. The original server is unchanged. They made a copy of the hard drives and worked with that. They would be stupid to file a lawsuit.

The AG does not supervise what the Senate does. The Senate is exercising it’s state legal, and US Constitutional duty. She has no say.

But their documents go to the Senate, who tasked them. The Legislative branch owns this work product and some executive branch AG has zero right to demand the Senate produce it’s working product.
In fact, the Senate can come closer to issuing Subpoenas to the AG.
