Multiple people have been killed in a shooting in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County.
New Jersey State Police have not released details on the number of people killed, but one official has indicated multiple deaths in the incident, which was reported around midnight at a large house party on the 1000 block of Commerce Street/Route 49.
Several people were also reported wounded.
Emergency dispatch communications from the time of the incident indicate initial calls for a woman with a gunshot wound. From there, dispatchers began receiving reports of multiple victims. EMS crews had to wait for clearance to head Into the scene as police tried to secure the area.

“Let there be no mistake: This despicable and cowardly act of gun violence only steels our commitment to ensuring New Jersey leads the nation in passing and enforcing strong and commonsense gun safety laws,” he said. “No community should ever experience what occurred last night in Fairfield.”
Yup, them common sense gun laws would have stopped this cold for sure. Fidiots!

I worked for an Israeli owned defense plant in the US. They got tax credits and other benefits for hiring off the welfare roles. This made for some unhappy employees as they were given no choice and most didn’t want to be there. One exception was a decent young black man who worked hard and really had potential. He was smart as a whip! But he lived in a bad neighborhood. At about two am he was shooting pool in a neighborhood bar when a couple of men told him someone was messing with his car. He went outside, followed by the men who then tried to rob him. He ran away from them and they shot him nine times. (Nine. Times.) They didn’t even get his money or his car. What the point in shooting him? No idea. I mean, as long as he’s already dead, why not take his wallet and his car?
I talked to several black employees. Yes, they know how dangerous and stupid it is to be a young black man out at that hour and in that neighborhood. But, well, as far as they are concerned, they have no choice. As a young black man you are expected to do certain things at certain times. I gathered it’s just part of the culture.
While I was employed there and at an adjacent facility later, three blacks were murdered by other blacks. One guy became an attempted murderer as he tried to kill the father of his girl because the father had rescued her from his abusive clutches. The father won that one.
In the whole rest of my thirty three years in industry, some of the jobs at plants with thousands...not one white employee was murdered or accused of murder. (Had it happened, the rumor mill would have ignited.)
I think the difference is, if you’re white and out at two am, you aren’t in a neighborhood where it’s stupid to do that. But if you’re black, it’s just expected you’ll go to the local bar even if there was a murder in the parking lot on the previous weekend. Weird, if you ask me.
What I want to know is what the shooting was all about and who was the shooter.

You know, the same people who say that knife fights are just part of growing up. Roll that idea around in your mind a bit and you will know what the real problem is, even if you daren’t say it.
