Police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with a shootout that left two people dead and eight others injured early Saturday morning in downtown Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at 1:59 a.m., officers working bar close in downtown heard sounds of gunshots in the area of 300 block of North First Avenue.
Police said officers ran to the gunfire and encountered an "exceptionally chaotic scene."
Officers located several victims lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Officers located a man deceased on the ground. As officers triaged other victims, they found another man deceased with a gunshot wound, said police.
Preliminary investigation reveals that two people were standing in a crowded area and got into a verbal confrontation. Both individuals pulled out guns and began shooting at each other.
One of the gunmen was killed in the shootout. The other suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jowan Contrail Carroll, was taken into custody early Saturday afternoon in Bloomington with the help of the Bloomington Police Department. He is being held in the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause murder. He has not been formally charged.

Was the shooter properly socially distanced 6 feet or more away from the victims? Did he wear a mask and had the vax? Safety is of the uttconcern here.
The answer is of course that ‘injured’ kinda suggests maybe something accidental, whereas ‘wounded’ denotes actual criminal intent, which goes against Leftist narrative.
“You’re killing’ me Smalls “ !!!
That piece of the story was added after I posted this thread.
Still, uncalled for.
When all of the facts of this story come out, I’ll wager that Mr. Johnson attempted to break up the altercation.
RIP.
Was it Mr. Carroll or the dead shooter that shot the bystanders. If ballistics, bullets, etc. prove it was the dead shooter, then Mr. Carroll might have a good “self defense” and protecting bystanders argument. Who drew and fired the first shot? If someone started shooting at me, I would try to protect myself.
It’s a bit early in the investigation to make any conclusions as to who shot who and when.
It sounds as if they argued and pulled at about the same moment and fired.
The picture in my head has two drunk gang bangers at bar close, talking smack and then they draw down on each other with one-handed sideways Glock nines.
Exactly.
I live in the downtown area of a Seattle suburb that is 35% Asian.
I do not feel in danger when a group of college age Asian guys are walking behind me on a weekend night.
The same reason they use weapon instead of firearm. A firearm is only a weapon when it is used against another human, if used in defense outside of battle it’s still a firearm.
#2, See, the “Contrails will kill you” believers were right.
who sneer and say, "nunna yo bidness!"
Yep, Presstitutes
” I’ll wager that Mr. Johnson attempted to break up the altercation.”
Doubt it. There’s a FB video clip on the net with what appears to be a wounded white male, of slight stature, on the ground with a gun shot to the neck area.
Which proves what?
That was a serious school to go to when I was a kid, and a school where faith could be taken seriously.
I was still in my bartending (and beverage consumin') phase at that time, and took very little seriously until I realized I was halfway through my 20s. This kid certainly deserved the advantages I had, and likely the thoughtfulness and decency I had cast to the winds.
You drew you own conclusion that the deceased “attempted to break up the altercation” without any proof.
Go look for yourself for more “evidence” before you disgrace Mr. Johnson, of whom was one day short of receiving his college engineering degree.
Great tagline! :)
“Jowan Contrail Carroll”
Clearly we need to be concerned with Contrails.
I drew no conclusion. I used the word wager.
Look it up.
I made no attempt to disgrace Mr. Johnson.
“One of the men who were killed has been identified as Charlie Johnson...""one... were killed"?
