Scott Thatcher and his wife Angela were born in California and love the sun-kissed Golden State. But two months ago they sold their home, packed up their belongings and travelled 1,700 miles with their three sons to start a new life in Texas.
Despite earning good salaries with secure jobs as a driver and a nurse, the family’s combined income of about $140,000 (£99,000) a year was not enough to prosper in their town of Modesto, about 90 minutes east of San Francisco.
‘We were surviving but not thriving,’ said Scott, 35. ‘We were getting by but it felt like we would never really get ahead.’

The Liberal/Commie invasion is in high gear.
A Democrat Utopia
Massive waives of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Ignorant Environmental policies.
(Hope there's enough water for that poor Delta-Smelt)
And thus, the socialist canker spreads.

And they’ll then continue voting Tard and ruin those states, also.
And CA is wanting to place an exit tax on those leaving.
Not everyone who leaves California votes leftist. Many of the people who are leaving are, in fact, conservatives who have gotten tired of overbearing leftist government.
And because they are stupid, they will bring the legislation that ruined California with them
In reality it's more like the boomerang coming back. California was a fairly safe, Conservative state until whackos from all over America started going there, where they eventually turned it into the hellhole that you see today. Like any other virus they leave just before the host dies so they can go infect another host.
And all of them will vote for the same policies that destroyed California.
I’d like to see real numbers as to whether it’s republicans or democrats leaving the date and in what percentages. Californians leaving for Arizona are turning the state blue.
Better late than never. My wife and I quit our jobs, sold our home, and moved our family to Florida the moment it became clear that Moonbean was going to be elected governor.
We saw the writing on the wall. And, got out while the getting out was beneficial to us.
We bought an equivalent home on the gulf coast for CASH. And still pocketed 300k on the sale of our California home.
Our family and friends told us we were overreacting. We moved anyway.
They later asked us, how did we know it would get so bad. We replied, because we were paying attention.
I abandoned CA in 1979 after I helped get prop 13 passed.
I’m pretty conservative in my voting, I hate Democrats and their government. I went to WA state for over 20 years, but finally tired of the growing Democrat presence in the state and the dramatic effect it had on the government, so I left over 20 years ago.
I ended up in the most blue state in the union, HI, BUT and this is a big but, I chose poor rural Hawaii, where they cannot afford to enforce all the silly laws they pass in Honolulu, so we ignore them.
That is the trick. Get out of the cities, and live where people can’t pay all the taxes they want to impose. Live where the Democrats can’t afford all the cops and regulators they need to enforce their silly laws.
Then go Galt on them.
You will find a lot of like minded people like yourselves.
California residents moving to Texas does explain Austin, but are these people as corrupt and ignorant of reality as the Democrats that currently continue to destroy California? How is this to be dealt with without becoming another Fascist state, like California?
By actually supporting the State and Federal Constitutions, something the leftists can never do, as it would be like admitting they were wrong. They are. Enforce the Rule of Law.

Similar to us. When we left CA in 2010 we sold our 2500-sq.ft. home in a Stepford-esque subdivision. Moved to TN, bought a 5,000-sq.-ft. house on 2.5 acres, on the Clinch River — for cash with about $300K left over.
Interesting bit about 3x more people in SF dying from ODs than WuFlu last year...
