One of the greatest songs by the stones in the greatest year of music, 1966.
As for mono vs stereo back then just about everything was mastered in mono and an artificial stereo version was released. The first Beatles album that was true stereo was Abbey Road.
i prefer stereo...
the louder the better...
Iβd say the peaked from β68 - β72.
Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St.
Listened to Beggars Banquet repeatedly Christmas season 1968. My goodness it is so Good. Wore out the grooves. It is on my 610 song travel playlist in my truck, along with the other stones albums you mentioned and a couple of others either complete or individual songs. .
Stones suck.
1968, Sympathy for The Devil .. LIVE.
Hear ya, Beggars is amazing. It was the album where they finally found their unique voice. From β62 to β64 they were essentially a blues cover band, albeit a very good one. From β65 through β67 they released some excellent original material, but were inconsistent and tried too hard to be like the Beatles. After Their Satanic Majesties Request (late β67), which was a disastrous attempt to emulate Sgt. Pepper, they stopped for a while to re-group, and the result was their first truly original masterpiece, Beggars Banquet (late β68). That set them on a run of albums that might be the best in the genreβs history, through Exile in β72. Goatβs Head Soup (β73) and Itβs Only Rock n Roll (β74) had some great material, but their peak had passed. Imo.
