The COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States and Europe offer protection against the four main coronavirus variants known to exist, a World Health Organization official says.
"All COVID-19 virus variants that have emerged so far do respond to the available approved vaccines," WHO European Regional Director Hans Kluge said Thursday at a news conference.
Kluge said the B.1.617 variant now killing thousands of people daily in India, where it was first detected, is of special concern.
That variant has spread to all six WHO regions and has been detected in 26 of the 53 nations in the WHO European region. Most cases are linked to international travel, he said.
“It is able to spread rapidly and displace the B.1.1.7 variant that has become the dominant lineage in Europe,” he said.
Kluge emphasized that while many people have not been vaccinated yet, all variants can be controlled with public health and safety measures, such as masks and social distancing.
"For the time being, we can say that all the four variants do respond to the vaccines made available, as of today," he said. "But the best way to counteract [spread] is to speed up the vaccination roll-out."
The other variants are the ones first detected in Brazil (P.1) and South Africa (B.1.351).
Luge said the vaccination program is bringing down COVID numbers in the WHO European region, with case counts decreasing 60% in a month. But he warned against letting our guard down.
“This progress is fragile. We have been here before. Let us not make the same mistakes that were made this time last year that resulted in a resurgence of COVID-19,” he said.
Luge said nations should “eliminate or rethink” international travel. But the European Union and the United Kingdom have recently relaxed guidance for international travel.
“Vaccines may be the light at the end of the tunnel, but we must not be blinded by that light,” he said.

There will be a very big spike in new cases around mid October.
The current shots won’t help you with the October spike, you’ll need a new booster. Or the Ivermectin everyone should have been using to begin with.

We now have a vaccine industrial complex. They are totally immune from lawsuits, have a huge percent of the entire population as customers, with governments leaning hard on people to get them. It’s huge money to be made for lots of people and is an unstoppable force.
In other News, something like half of the CDC and FDA aren’t getting the vaccine, at my local hospital half the docs are declining. The people who know medicine best are hesitating because of uncertainty over long term unintended consequences.
You can get a complete course of covid treatment with ivermectin for $5, but that won’t make anyone rich so let’s all bury and hide it while forcibly herding everyone to get vaccines

Well that is going to be news to Moderna....:-) They reported the following this week.
Participants in the Phase 2 study were tested for pseudovirus neutralization (PsVN) titers prior to boosting approximately 6 to 8 months after their primary vaccination series. Although titers versus the wild-type SARS-CoV-2 virus remained high, with 37 of 40 participants having detectable titers, titers against the variants of concern (B.1.351 and P.1) were much lower, with approximately half of participants having titers below the assay limit of quantification prior to boosting.
WHO is bought and paid for by China.
The phrasing is contradictory as to the India variant. The phrasing is “responds” and then he says special concern.
Of considerably more interest is a new CDC regulation on reporting cases. Profound change of definitions. We have known for some time that PCR cycle count can generate false positives, and in the January time frame that was adjusted to reduce those.
But as of 1 May, now the case reporting criteria differs in cycle count for vaccinated vs unvaccinated. At first this appeared pointed only at CDC processing and investigating Breakthrough cases, but it now looks clear that this is a broad definition change. The requirements (lower cycle count) to declare an infection in a vaccinated person will be more stringent than unvaccinated.
This means it will be harder to declare an infection in a vaccinated person. No way in hell this does not corrupt all case reporting.
We are going to be left with only Excess Deaths to know if anything is legitimate.
In that same speech, Eisenhower warned of big science-big government collusion. He was an amazingly prescient man.
