Gov. Kate Brown announced Friday lottery prizes ranging from $10,000 to $1 million for Oregonians vaccinated against COVID-19 -- a strategy meant to address the dramatically decreasing numbers of residents inoculated each day.
All residents 18 and older who’ve received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine by June 27 will be entered into the “Take Your Shot Oregon” lottery, which will be held on June 28.

If you're waiting to get your vaccine, or you've already gotten your dose, you could be eligible to win money or education scholarships in the Take Your Shot Oregon campaign, including a chance at $1 million.

Taxpayer money that leaves the rest of us out. Sounds fair. Especially the bribe/coertion part. Will the state GOP look into this?
If I’m going to win a lottery, I want to buy a ticket, not have my ticket punched.
Never underestimate the Stupidity of the human race to the bottom
That is sick.
I’m holding out for a car, not a lotto ticket. Maybe Oprah will come through.
What they should do is offer to pay the bills not covered by insurance of anyone who needs emergency attention or hospitalization due to the vaccine. (1 in 5000).
And pay $1 million to anyone who gets a permanent disability (8 in a million) or dies (16 in 1 million) due to the vaccine.
IMHO, they thought 99.9999% of the country would be fighting to get the jab. Even in liberal states, they seem to in the 50-60% range vaccinations and demand is falling off a cliff.
NY also has a lottery scheme they announced recently.
Asking for a friend...
How about if I’m white, do I still get a chance?
Much better to spend the money to get the vaccines to the people.
Working poor can’t find an hour in their day to get vaccinated. Never mind being sick at work the next day which happens to some.
State should pay companies to let people off an hour early and off the next day.
That’s incentive and would get the shots where they’ll do the most good.
If its her money, fine
Not public money
I don’t know if he’s vaccinated, but I can predict with assurance that Hunter Biden will win the $1M.
Wait...
I’ve heard that, there are cases of people getting Covid-19 disease after getting the vaccine.
And that the chances are greater for dying from the vaccine than your chances of winning that Covid-19 ‘vaccinated’ lottery.
So, with the chances of dying being greater than winning the lottery, who’s going to get vaccinated in order for a chance in the lottery?
(BTW, I’m vaccinated: two ways; got the disease naturally and via the vaccine).
The working poor don’t go to grocery stores, pharmacies or Walmart?
There have never been any cash and prize offers made to people to go get the yearly flu vaccine. Why now with this particular vaccine for COVID?
All these governors that are doing this need to be sued into oblivion. Imagine using taxpayer dollars to pay out a lottery. And not only that but a lottery in which they pick the pool of eligible winners. What is wrong with this country that no legal groups step up to sue these lawless people.
They don’t have an hour to get vaccinated.
Between waiting in line, getting the shot and waiting to see if they have a reaction, it’s close to an hour.
They have to get the kids and make supper, take a kid to ‘practice’... lot’s of things need their time.
And they sure can’t afford to miss a day of work if they get sick.
And throw in any “hesitancy” or lack of motivation.
At a $100 a pop that’s 10,000 shots in arms.
This is getting ridiculous. Free donuts, free drinks, free casino credit, and now a lotto. The damn vaccine can’t sell itself? Why not? Maybe they should start there. The fact they don’t raises eyebrows.
