#48 -- "Run" by George Strait ... Click Here
Country music makes its first appearance on the list ... with none other than the iconic King of Country, George Strait.
This is the perfect song for a nighttime flight on a trip that will have some serious implications for the rest of your life ... a job interview, a business trip, a possible relocation to another city, etc.
Of course, it's also perfect for that late summer road trip back north from Texas -- driving into the gathering darkness out of Dallas, trying to see how far up US-75 I could get before stopping for the night.
Ping!
#50 -- "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac
#49 -- "Ventura Highway" by America
#48 -- "Run" by George Strait
A shortlist of my 80’s favorites will include:
“Harden My Heart” by Quarterflash 1981
“Tainted Love” by Soft Cell
“I’m Only Human” by The Human League
For those interested in popular radio music from south of the border: I only understand a few words, but like the melody.
“Lo Que No Fue No Sera” by Jose Jose 1978
(what was not, will not be)
Wonderful selection. Country music runs thin in my library due to lack of exposure for the most part. Will have to add this one.
Off the top of my head I can only think of one country song on my list, a relatively obscure song and artist: “Matter of Time” by Jason Sellers.
Another song that fits that mood perfectly is "Flyover States" by Jason Aldean. That song was popular when I flew to Chicago one morning in 2012 for a job interview that would have had me managing the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and the Dakotas.
I didn't get that job posting (ended up in New York City a couple years later) but I often wonder what my life would have been like had I gotten that job instead.
Good song by George Strait and it had 11 plays in my iTunes until I played it again tonight for number 12.
The #48 most played song in my iTunes playlist is another country song - "Kerosene" by Miranda Lambert.
